RNN) - Investigators uncovered evidence that led them to believe the mass shooting that killed 14 people at a San Bernardino, CA, community center was committed as an act of terrorism, the FBI said Friday.
Tashfeen Malik, one of the shooters in the San Bernardino mass killings, pledged her support to the leader of the Islamic State group in a Facebook post shortly before the killings, according to news outlets.
The Associated Press and CNN reported the information Friday, based on unnamed law enforcement sources. Officials have not publicly confirmed the social media activity, but a Facebook executive told the AP that the online post was made around 11 a.m. Wednesday, when the attack began.
According to the reports, Malik posted on Facebook under a false name. She wrote a message pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, head of the group also referred to as ISIS or ISIL, and then deleted it a short time later, the AP reported.
