Swathing oats question

What indicator do you use to know when to swath oats? Straw color?

For Hay - I cut oats when the grain is in the milk to soft dough stage.

Really need hard dough, and then a little, have seen it suck the dough out of the grain. Before it starts leaning makes me feel a little better

when you need to be irrigating corn, swathing alfalfa, and moving cows, THAT seems to be the best indicator for oat harvest around here....

That's the biggest reason I don't plant oats not enough of me to go around.
