This evening between the time I got home about 4:00, and when I turned off the computer because of the lightening, about 5:30.........Sweet Pea calved........It's a half Hereford, quarter Brown Swiss, quarter Holstein bull calf........got the longest legs I've seen on a calf for a while........

Lickin him off

Gettin snotty with Al.....she actually did come after him, so we decided to just leave them alone for a while, till Hubby gets home, and he can put them in the corral!

The calf finally got up, tried to suck, but is too tall. He may need some help......another job for Hubby!

LOL @ you two!!!!!!

When Hubby got home, he took the situation in hand, and things started happening. He "wheelbarrowed" the calf to the corral; Sweet Pea wasn't real thrilled, but she followed along behind like a nice milk cow (if there is such a thing  )

When they were in the corral, he caught her and tied her to the fence, then started trying to help the little guy find the spiggot......she was still having a fit, so Al hobbled her. Amazing what that will do to one's attitude......:D

It wasn't long before the little one got the idea, and was going after it all on his own! Just makes ya feel good to see that happen!

Saturday, Al had an ortho appointment at Palomas, so we got Keith (one of the cowboys that was over on the Diamond Bar when we were last time, and that I got Rebel from) to go pick up a couple of Holstein bull calves down by El Paso for us. We met him back in Deming, and got them from him, paid him for the trouble, etc. Got them home, and now Sweet Pea has 3 sons!!!!!!! Here's some pics of the three of them together:

The mostly white one is a week old now, the mostly black one is Sweet Pea's calf, the one that's about half and half is the same age as Sweet Pea's calf........4 days old now. These pics were taken after we got home on Saturday.
