It's sure not looking too good for us to have a real conservative to choose from for President in '08.

Having to choose between Guiliani and McCain couldn't be much worse than having to choose between 2 venereal diseases.

IF you had to pick one of these two fake Republicans in the primary, which one would you choose? Why?

I won't vote for either one. All bets are off with me. If the republicans run candidates that are proabortion, I'll look at other issues and could possibly vote for a different party.

So you wouldn't support a 'lesser of the evils' candidate, even if it meant that we might get stuck with another President Clinton?

I can't think of anything much more dangerous than a president hitlery and both houses of Congress under her control.

I would go ahead and vote for Guiliani in the general election if he won the primary, but I could not vote for him IN the primary. I know he is no social conservative, but I think he is a decent man. I would rather have a Tom Delay, or a Republican with his leanings to vote for. McCain vs. Hillary, well I might just have to sit that one out. Some things are sacred.

We don't have any high profile Conservatives anymore. The press crusifies them just for showing up.

When they run these wolves in sheeps clothing , closet democrats, I am no longer in step with the rep. party. I would vote for them over hilliary but the dems could find a prolife candidate and get my vote.

I wish their would be a better choice than those two, but most likely they will be as good as it gets. I would have to go with McCain I guess. Mostly because I think he would beat Clinton for sure.

Even though there is some doubt, I think he is against Abortion and Gay Marriages. Even though he might flip flopping on this from what I have read.

I think both would be OK in the War on Terror. I lean more towards Giuliani on this but think McCain would be tougher than he appears once he won the election. I think he is playing a little more moderate than what he really is, knowing he needs to woooo the left to win in 08.

I tend to think McCain would more likely cut government spending, but who really knows.

I wish there was a real Conservative out there to pick, but maybe after these last elections and as hard as the liberal media is hitting the conservatives it might be best for Republicans to go ahead and give someone like McCain the nod since he has a good chance of getting some liberal votes.

As much as I want a truly conservative president, at this time the war on Terror is the most important thing to me. And McCain and Giuliani would probably both do OK at this. And for sure a lot better than Clinton would.

You would think it would be the most important issue for everybody. But it isnt.
A while back on another thread somebody made the statement that "who would ever have predicted the fall of the Soviet Union"
I didnt reply at the time because I figgured people would take it the wrong way.
Anyway here goes. The answer is my old history teacher. But here is something to think about. He also predicted the fall of the United States. I dont want this to happen. But dont think it cant happen!

X why don't you ad Tom Colburn to your poll and see how many votes a real conservative gets.
I guess we need to do another poll later with some real conservatives included.

No more voter turnout than we're getting on this one, I probably should have added "Syphilis or Gonorrhea" as a third choice. Maybe the electorate wouldn't feel so betrayed if I had given them at least one decent choice.

This is a good post, aplusmnt. I think I would have to agree with you on almost all of it. I'm afraid that if I was forced to choose between the two, McCain would also be my pick. But there sure are a lot of things I don't like about him.

I agree with you that he would be more likely to try to cut government spending. I also think he has more experience with foreign policy. Although with Rudy having been Mayor of NYC and having to deal with the UN for years, I'm sure he realizes how worthless they are.

For the record I have never recomended voting democrat under any circumstances.
Independent sure, third party sure if there was one.
Its to bad there were not more Partys for people to choose from. The problem would be the funding. It just takes SO MUCH money in the States.
Hey I know very little about either McCain or Giuliani. What is it about them that makes you think they are neocons?

Admit it, politics is a hotbed of sleezebags and back stabbing and dirty fighting. Regardless of party.
I think that's somewhat true because we, as Americans now pick people based on their ability to do (X) instead of picking people that will do what's right.
