I see a lot of talk on loose mineral. I do put out mineral tubs and I think it helps a lot. The problem I see is that I always see the same old cows on them every time I check on the tubs. I just wonder if the younger cows get their chance at them. Maybe they do. Once my cows turn 3 they are in the herd and don't get any special treatment. I just think there are cows that get more than their share and many that don't get enough. That was my thinking in starting to use the multi min.
Make sure you have plenty of tubs out or the 'boss cows' will hog the mineral. Loose mineral is the best way to feed mineral. The mineral doesn't stay spread out consistently in lick tubs; and mineral blocks....the cattle will stop licking before they get their daily requirement. Loose mineral should be fed at the rate of 1 tub at least, per 50 head.
Multimin really doesn't contain many vitamins and mineral.
Read the label. I don't think it hurts, but don't depend just on it. Just a little
FWIW. I wish you good luck in your AI program. IMHO I think you'll really like the Black Cedar calves.
