Good story!!! I'm married to joe farmer, so as the conversation turned say about 3:30 a.m. "I'm really tired of you riding my a**." My reply was weeeelllll when I say marc 4 speed, that's what I mean!! A comfortable 8 mile an hour.... Sheesh what does he think I'm out here for? My good looks.... MEN!! :roll: :roll: :wink:katrina

That reminds me of something that happened this spring... I needed to stop hubby in the tractor for some reason. He never looks around when he goes through the yard. So I picked up a rock ready to hurl it at him and as I closed one eye and squinted, Big Muddy's face appeared in my vision.... So I dropped the rock and just let him drive by..... true story too... :nod:

Funny you'd mention that little incident! It came up in conversation here today with a mutual acquaintance of Big Muddy and me. Seems neither one of us really knew how it happened that the window came to fit into the bottom of a bucket . . . :wink:

Getting into the tall grass and clover. May have to wait to bale tomorrow, but I'll see how dry it gets by evening. I have a new outlook on small sqaures after putting up loose hay What's all this talk about tractors having windows???...they make tractors with windows??? ....haha. I'm starting to notice they don't make some of the stuff I need for my hay equipment any more

What's all this talk about tractors having windows???...they make tractors with windows??? ....haha. I'm starting to notice they don't make some of the stuff I need for my hay equipment any more
If this is your first go around with baling clover be sure that it is good and dry or it will turn musty or moldy. Clover is pretty slow drying compared to almost any other forage we make around here.
Lots of ways to tell, if you don't have a moisture tester.
1) Breaking lots of shear pins on the baler!! :x
2) Bales seem way too heavy even with loose strings! :shock:
3) When you bend the stems of the clover they should crack or snap a bit instead of just bending.
I know I've baled hay with a high percentage of clover before thinking it was dry and it came out dusty. :?
Hay has to be a bit drier for making bales than for putting up long and loose.
If you know all this stuff or more, please ignore this. It's just so much more fun giving someone else directions on making small squares than doing it myself! :wink:

Thanks, Burnt! Your tips weren't wasted! I really don't know anything about what I'm doing this year putting up my own hay... :???: By what you say, what I have out there now raked up isn't going to be ready today. I'm in between mowing hay right now....I'll go back to mowing the rest of the evening. The way my luck as been so far, I'll burn the barn down if only one little piece of something goes in there a little too damp.... I do know to watch out for that
I have my mule out there helping(watching) me today. As I was raking hay earlier, I seen that her head was way up in the air. From where I was I couldn't tell how though. When I came around, I seen she was standing on the outside dual tire of my truck just looking around....lol. I had her tied to the truck. Crazy mule
Well I have to go fix my mower and go back to mowing. I break down on it about every lap or two Putting up my own hay is going to drive me to drink....lol.....just jokin...it is fun learning all this and spending time out there. I feel I have a way better handle on what my ground needs out there and where. I love the evenings out there right before dark...very peaceful!!!
