Tap yesterday we went to the seven downs arena to the Frenchman's guy horse sale and bought you the two high selling lots, a $40000 mare and a $39000 stud to start your herd. The auctioneer's wife, Connie, told us that you would be fine with your purchases. It was quite a sale with very little horses going in SD.

When we went from Dupree to Faith it sure looked green and I mean green, amazing what rain will do.

Gee thanks lazy ace. I am withholding payment till I receive delivery though.  I was in Belle Fourche at the saddle shop, and the gal asked if I was going to the sale, and I told her I wasn't even aware that is was yesterday. She thought they would go high. Someone with more connections than I have, or care to  must have bought those horses. They would only go down in value every day around here. Instead of the other way like they are supposed to. lol It was nice for you and Connie to be looking out for me. :p

We drove through some showers yesterday, but they never amounted to much. Things are trying to green up around here, but we could use another dose of the wet stuff.

Old Jim died quite a few years ago. His last saddle shop was in Valentine, Nebraska. I bought one of the last saddles that he made, and it was the Kosmo Kid's saddle until this summer.

It was quite awhile back I was there-I still have a tie down we got there-back when we still used tie downs. He was quite a character for sure.

He had been in a bad car wreck in his earlier days, so had a hole in his neck to breathe out of. He had to plug it to talk, but seemed to get along pretty well.

We went to a Wedding in Valentine over the weekend, and the country around Valentine and South of Fort Pierre look just like the Red Elm area. The rest of what we saw is dry to pretty dry. Nothing drier then the southern part of Ziebach County. The boss talked to a man from Red Elm and he said they've had over 8" since late July. Our total moisture for the whole year is 1/2 that. Got .25 yesterday and really appreciated it. Took this picture a few miles south of us along the Cheyenne. Looks to me like the whole state could use about 4" to get things ready for the fall. .

Lazy, Can I ask how the sale averaged? Maybe the younger geldings?

I think the whole sale averaged about 12000 to 13000. I took my book down to dad so I don't know exactly about the younger geldings. The colts sold from 2500 on up. We heard a rumor that he might be selling his Paddy's Irish Whiskey stud. I don't know if it is true or not.

I hope that helped but I'll get my book back in the next couple of days and post some more.

Thanks, appreciate it. Thats quite an average. I heard they sold a few of them at Billings, with a couple 5yro bringing $14-20k. Got a 3yro out of a 2-eyed Jac mare that I'm just starting, so I like to keep track of how they're selling.
