WASHINGTON - Former Sen. Tom Daschle, picked by President Barack Obama to lead his health reform efforts, recently filed amended tax returns to report $128,203 in unpaid taxes and $11,964 in interest, according to a Senate document obtained by The Associated Press.

The White House acknowledged Friday that "some tax issues" had emerged in connection with the nomination, but a spokesman said the president is confident the former Senate Democratic leader will be confirmed as the new health secretary.

Since Oldtimer has nothing better to do than read every single post added to the forum he has pointed out I missed this post and posted the same information. For this I apologize to all posters for having to read this information again. In my defence I, unlike Oldtimer, don't have an alarm on my computer notifing me with seconds of a new post being added.
Yes the yellow tag is there but if I don't get to read every single new post before I shut down to do something else, the next time I visit the site the tags change which is where I might miss the odd post. So again I APOLOGIZE. for occasionally posting something after it has already been posted. Does that cover it Oldtimer?

I have zeal for no such thing  I want to see the US succeed but I like many other don't think it will if Obama and Pelosi are left unchecked. When will the word Ethics have a meaning in the US again. Tax Cheats should not be allowed to hold office. And if these tax cheats are the only guys that can do the job you have a HUGE PROBLEM in the US. I may have left the US but as I have said before what happens in the US DOESN"T STAY IN THE US. :x

Too bad you never worried about all that when GW was refusing to enforce laws- going around Congress and rewriting laws- breaking International law- breaking hiring laws in the White House- etc. etc..

I agree- its a big problem that we have-- but its been here a lot longer than the last couple of weeks you just happened to return from sabbatical and start bitching about the new Administration...

As far as your intents for the US- I question that- as you've opposed every pro US move that has came out-- preferring to shove Uruguayan/Mexican mystery meat down US consumers throats over their ability to make an informed choice-or to support US producers- choosing to support letting Americans die from imported Asian food products because you think its origin should remain a mystery-- choosing to fight against US small business, workers, and rebuilding US industry because we want to take US stimulus taxdollars to support US products... :???:

Not to mention yelling the sky is falling with every breath. That does not sound like someone who wants the best for the U.S. It sounds like someone who wants to sow dissension and fear in the hearts of a competitor. Who do BMR and Tam really work for? I agree OT that their reappearance and obsessive smear campaign against the new administration is suspicious.

What have they said about the new administration that has been untrue?

That it does not have the best interests of the American people at heart. That it is racist, socialist. Every single thread is negative. Every single moment during the campaign, inauguration and the first days of this administration the three or five of you who are hardcore have found some excuse to post negative messages, almost all drawn from only ONE source --- old ringwing Internet blogs and sites such as WorldNet and often months or even years old.

It would be amusing if it weren't so pathetic given how sorry a state your hero GWB left this country in.

GWB isn't my hero - I never voted for him, but that has nothing to do what what I asked you. I asked what was incorrect, not what you didn't like. This looks more like a "Truth hurts" issue than a smear.

Sandhusker- what is wrong with promoting America First :???: What is wrong with giving the US consumer an informed choice of where their countries food products come from :???: What is wrong with US taxpayers stimulus and bailout dollars being pinpointed to be spent on US products if you want taxpayer bailout money- made by US workers- in US industry- and owned by US business's :???:

Tam and Big Muddy have promoted nothing but the opposite- since coming to the Political Bull (which neither were on til this new Adminstration looked like it would change to pro- American) ....
My feeling is for the last 2O+ years we've done nothing but bail out Mexico and Canada- for this or for that- while they have reciprocated with the "ALL US CATTLE ARE DISEASED" type trade barriers when we tried to institute "FAIR" free trade-besides getting slapped in the face a few other time- now its time to think of number 1- and build back our country- and put the US and the US producer and the US worker and the US business and the US industry first.....

OT and Reader I have no problem with American citizens making a conscious effort to "Buy American" where the problem comes in with governments mandating that when it violates trade treaties and the fact that it is hurtful to every country that exports which is the USA and Canada. OT the CCA and SSGA and ABP and MCA all lobbied our government to drop the BT and anap. restrictions. It was our almost none existant sheep industry in BC that the government was protecting they told us and we requested scientific anaplas regs. So go stuff the rest of your whining up yours.

Reader you point out where I was racist and I will erase it and apologize.

What about the Dem posters here saying the only reason Michael Steele got the chairmanship was because he was black. Did you call them to the carpet about being racist?

As far as being socialist I have to call a spade a spade.. I have seen socialist government most of my life and it sure hasn't worked very well in Saskatchewan. We have a smaller population then we did in the 1920's.
Most of our youth left for greener pastures in Alberta where there has a conservative government with lower taxes. Our Democrats made crown corporations out of everything from Liquor stores to Potash mines. They stifled growth raised taxes created a welfare state that those few left working were paying higher taxes all the time.

Back to the issue!!!! How in the heck can the new admin. Be so completely above the law to keep nominating these CHEATS? And these are just the ones dumb enough to get caught! These people are liars and cheats and unpatriotic and arrogant and need a jail sentence to get their attention! And not only do they get thier hands barely slapped, they are being chosen AS MEMBERS OF THE ADMINISTRATION THAT IS SUPPOSED TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY! What a reward! And if all you liberals think there's nothing wrong with that picture, then i respectfully gotta question your integrity! If it smells like a pig and looks like a pig and oinks like a pig it just may be a pig even if your narrow minded and short sighted values are telling ya its quarterhorse with tax problems! :???:

Gee I have a problem with Obama no proving he is qualified to be president Is that a topic of discussion over on Bull or is it being discussed right here on Political :? :???: :?

Besides if I go over there I'd probably be arguing with both you and Sandhusker by staying here Sandhusker and I are arguing with you.

As for the book It's a history book about the Big Muddy . Thing is the Muddy has a pretty colorful Outlaw past. Most of the Outlaws were Americans running from US justice. You might know the county they came from Oldtimer it was Valley county, once known to be the most lawless county in the US. Once the law started clamping down they ran to Canada to hide out. I dare say if the lawmen back then would have been anything like you, I probably wouldn't have had much to write about. As the Outlaws wouldn't have had hide out in Canada. They could have just avoided the law by staying out of the watering holes in Glasgow.

so like good little obediant citizens, we should ignore the "FACT" that Obama has nominated two tax cheats and a bunch of lobbiests? ,.. out of fear of being called a racist?

"No wonder Democrats don't mind higher taxes, they don't pay them!"..

Steve - I haven't seen you in the hypocrit/Chatty Tammy/Husker camp posting whiny negative stuff incessantly. I have no problem with anyone who reads, thinks, and constructively criticizes the new Administration.

I have read 4 books on Obama lately, 2 being his own. 4 by economists (concerning the economy), and I have read a multitude of blogs, both on MSM, and alternative sites.

If you believe they are fiction, that is up to you. I'm sure you will let us know when you have been proven wrong! That's your perogative. Until then, do not try to silence us, by saying we are wrong in expressing our opinions!

Back up your sources and show that there are multiple sources is what I said. Per Glenn Beck and how he does his research. More than just demagoguery.

I noted that Steve isn't a slash and post fellow. You and I are reading broadly. That's good.

How many times have I asked Oldtimer to provide a source to his claims that Obama has asked Geithner to jerk back Bail out money. You see reader you expect us to provide multiple sources but why not Oldtimer. :?
