I really don't think that I am rich, but a lot of others do.
So why don't I want my taxes raised even though I can afford it?
1. I am a lot better money manager than the government is.
2. Regardless of how much the government takes in, they spend it and more.
3. The government spends money on things which they ought not to get involved in.
4. The government will give my tax money to people who have no intention of working to support themselves.
5. If we gave all of our money to the government, it would be okay for this year, but next year they would need more. (This applies to local government as well.)
Our form of government designates our elected represenatives to decide where our money goes. Once elected, changing them is darn near impossible because the tax-takers get on board.
Personally, I receive social security payments and a VA disability pension.
I could do without either of these, but the government promised social securiy and I paid into the system for more tghan 50 years. I would surrender my VA pension if I thought it would do any good. I bet a lot of veterans feel this way. The government would use these funds to fund more welfare programs for those who have never done a damn thing for their country,.
Other than that, I'm having a good day.
