A new slant in our war on terrorism. Maybe now the root causes can be squared away....

TEACHER ARRESTED IN NEW YORK

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule, and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes the man is a member of the notorious 'Al-Gebra' movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. 'Al-Gebra is a problem for us', the Attorney General said. 'They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values.

They use secret code names like 'X' and 'Y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.' As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to every triangle'.

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, 'If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.' White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President.

It is believed that the Nobel Prize for Physics will follow.

The last time we flew airport security went over a health needed nebulizer like it was a ticking time bomb. Keep in mind I told them I had it and handed it over without being asked. The one airport security person said here we are scared you've got a bomb in this thing while we aren't even supposed to look twice at any person with knitting needles getting on.

It's shocking with 911 in our history some of the various things people can still board a plane with.

Whats even more shocking is that voters don't have to qualify before being allowed in to the voting booth! They even allow those voters to fly and access a computer key board. Ain't that a hoot.

Give me a Bic pen and I can do a lot of damage - maybe even take over the plane - I would like a spare pen though - in event I break one while withdrawing it from your ear or nasal passage.

Security while getting on the plane is an absolute joke.

Ground crew pass back and forth at will and the background checks on them are so far behind and out of date (on a national basis) as to be almost worthless.

Trust me this is an immense problem that simply cannot be controlled - so the farce is to make passengers believe they are being searched for their own good. After the search the passengers feel better - despite the huge loop holes in the system.

The amount of cargo that is searched is very small. I know it is less than 50% but suspect it is less than 10% - especially the just in time or next day delivery stuff.

What most folks do not know is that the cargo business makes a pile of money for airlines and every time you settle into that cattle class seat you are also carrying a pile of revenue paying cargo in the hold under your ass.

If people only knew how easy it is to get on with a weapon - and it is even easier if you do not plan to have a successful landing.

I travel a lot - a simple scenario that would work under many circumstances: One ground crew guy comes up the stairs to take the excess business class luggage to the hold. He simply gives me my weapon of selection that HE has smuggled in through one of many methods and means - and I get on the plane.

Only one of the security scenarios we discuss all the time - and such a glaring one that it is brought up in the newspapers by knowledgeable journalists as a real weakness.

Give me two trained accomplices and it is even easier.

The system is not truly broken, but it is dire need of some overhauling - the sooner the better.

Aren't you supposed to be new? You seem pretty positive about my political affiliation for a "new poster".

Perhaps he has used the SEARCH feature that is available, or could it be your postings point straight to the fact you are liberal?

the scary part is that passengers could do it themselves by carrying parts to combine to make a weapon or bomb...

take a look at this gun..

or another..

“A grenade-style pin removes the safety, and the flashlight fires a .410 shotgun round out the back when a button is pressed. A Mini-Mag size fires a .380 round”
