Why did Jesus teach in parables?
When you are a teacher the message you get across is not that you are smarter than the students but that you have the ability to pass on the knowledge that is needed.
If you can put that knowledge into a format that the student can easily understand and can recall when needed you are doing your job.
I will now try to put the current North Korea situation into a parable - - -
For the sake of a story I am going to say that a person lived at 1600 Penn. Ave that wanted to get along and had a nice dog that he liked. This dog was named Guam and loved to go up to people he met and get patted.
This man had a neighbor (for the sake of the story lets call the neighbor Kim) who did not like dogs and every time the neighbor saw Guam (or any other small dog he felt he could bully) he would kick the dog.
The man at 1600Penn. Ave would say “Please stop kicking my dog” to no avail - - - the neighbor then started kicking other dogs as it was fun for him to see the owners plead with him to stop, but as he kept getting away with it there was no real reason for him to stop.
Then a change came about and a new person moved into 1600 Penn. Ave - - - this man now states that if Guam or any other dog in the area is kicked there will be a swift and powerful punishment!!!
Some of the neighbors say “Please don’t threaten Kim as he will kick more dogs”! Other neighbors say “We will stand with you as this has to stop”!
We are now to make a decision - - - do we cower and hope our dog does not get kicked to hard or do we stand with the new resident of 1600 Penn. Ave ad make sure Kim does not kick any more dogs?
I will tell you that for myself Kim had better rethink his actions - - - I can forgive his past actions but I will not allow him to kick my dog!
