Terrible Deal

A ten year old boy got killed by dogs on a reserve north of us. No matter your opinions on the culture that is a terrible way to lose your son. I've coached quite a few of his relatives over the years they were all good athletes and great kids. It's not a very big community it's going to be tough on everybody.

I heard about that on the news, a damn shame is what it is. Poor little fella.
I'm working with a friend from not too far from Meadow Lake and I was telling him about this but couldn't remember the name of the res, do you know it?

sad deal for sure. a person shouldn't have to bury thier child. should be the other way around. but God only takes the ones he needs.

i don't understand the dog deal.....wild dogs or what?

As a kid, I recall my uncle shooting stray dogs that were wandering near the herd. Regardless of the culture, that boy should not have had to die from dogs.

Down here on the reservation they have a couple of "animal control officers"-- who do most of their controlling with a rifle...Anything running loose near towns or harassing livestock are controlled...

My old 10 year old male border collie- Jud- is moving awful slow today....Last evening he tangled with a big old chocolate colored mutt that had apparently came across the river from town...And that dog did a pretty good job on him before the rest of mine got there to help out...I was too far away and only had my pistol or that one would have been controlled too..

Old Juds' getting to be like me- still got the fire in him- and he will take on anything- just that the body doesn't have the ability it had before...

I figured you for a member of the Brady Bunch. Gun Control zealot. I guess you figure it is okay for you to use a gun since you are trained law enforcement?

You figured wrong  ...I gave out more concealed carry permits in the 4 years I was Sheriff- than had ever been given out in all the years previous....Some of that was because of laws I lobbied the legislature for- that gave the Sheriff more leeway in the decision making (training/education required- background exam requirements)...Everyone in my family has a concealed permit- and has extensive training/experience in how to use one..
