I can't believe these people voting Perry back into office. I mean the man took money back from higher education just to cover up his debt that he has put the state into. State colleges now have a hiring freeze for professors or any other staff needed (this is the second time he has done this) and try put a tollway into the state ran by another country. He can sure make himself look really good at election time and other time can be a real snake in the grass. I never have vote for him and never will unless thats what it takes for him to get out of office. Come Nov. Bill White will have my vote and that will be hard to vote Dem. some thing I have never done before.

Perry just rub me the wrong way with Tollway and I heard it people from all over Central and East Texas about this to.

Perry Wins Texas Republican Gov. Primary Race

FOXNews.com

In his victory speech, Perry kept with the anti-Washington campaign he waged against Hutchison: "From Driftwood, Texas, to Washington, D.C. we are sending you a message tonight: Stop messing with Texas!"

I agree with you Trinity!! I used to like Perry until he tried that little trick with the corridor. Bill White did alright as mayor but I wonder if his political views will come out of the closet in his new role.

6 months ago I would have told you no way in hades would I vote for him. Take a look at the other choices. You could vote for a liberal RINO who goes with the Dems or you could vote for a nutso who thinks Dubya staged the whole 911 event and masterminded it. So I went with Perry as did a majority of Texas. He lost his corridor deal and knows it. Plus he stands behind Texas. Kay would go with the rest of the U.S. on practically every issue and let them keep sucking us dry. Medina is a basket case.

We're going to have another term of Perry. I gotta get used to it.

Think about this, you got a whole group of liberals who thinks Dubya didn't have enough sense to pour pizz out of a boot. Yet this same bunch think he is smart enough to have masterminded and pulled off the 911 event. Makes perfect sense to you  They got Medina influenced into their way of thinking.

Kay's record speaks for itself and all through the debates she talked about the rest of the U.S. and corridor. She's supposed to be running for Governor here. What's she going to do about the issues we have here? She doesn't have a clue.

Here is how Perry balance the budget from higher education.

Sam Houston State students can expect to dish out bigger bucks in the next two years as the university will introduce a "convenience fee" to help pay for the five percent general revenue reduction from the state of Texas.
The five percent cut will cost Sam Houston State $2.55 million a year over a two-year period, taking a total of $5.1 million from the Sam Houston's state funded budget.

This is how he balances his budget. Taking money from our kids education and we have to pay for it. Good job Perry.

As an outsider looking in he (Perry) just jumped on the bandwagon with his "Stop messing with Texas" rhetoric. Probably got a lot of people to vote for him just by using that slogan. JMO

Probably. You also have to consider his actions at the various Tea Parties all the way back to the first. There are a whole bunch of folks bent on jumping out of the U.S. and Texas being independant. No other candidate seems to support that.

You pay for it one way or another. User fees or taxes. The user fees are specific to the user and the taxes are spread over users and none users.

and the University adding in a fee for credit card use seems like a good idea to me. If a student/parent chooses to use a credit card on campus, they should be responsible for the additional charges that are incurred by the University.

Hypo you'd best check the math there. If that 2.5 million is 1/20th of the state budget, our problems are solved :D

I paid for two in college at the same time. Over $40K a year and I couldn't even write it off of my income taxes because we were a two family income just over that thresh hold. I didn't whine a bit.

Maybe the state can just start printing money like they do in Washington. :D Money has to come from somewhere. You can't just keep paying all those demands over and over. We can't afford it.

If I have to choose between feeding little kids or not, it is an easy decision. I aint cutting that funding. I am cutting something else.

I dont love Rick Perry but, I can tell you that Bill White is terrible. He is a liberal who will cost you MUCH MUCH more in the long run, if you make any money at all OR if you own any land.

If you neither make money or own land, then odds are pretty good that you are already a Democrat.

Medina was crazy, Hutchinson is a moderate and will side with Democrats far too often....Perry may have alot of bad ideas, but he has had alot of good ones too.

The transtexas corridor, was terrible, the hpv shots was bad, but alot of the rest of his plans are not that bad. So what, if he raises college tuition a bit...if he stopped allowing illegals to get instate tuition you could probably get that reduction back down...

Not being excited for Perry is completely understandable...but voting for White over Perry if you consider yourself a republican or a moderate is just plain a bad idea.

I'd pick Perry over White but I have to give White some credit for cracking down on employers using illegals. Perry doesn't seem to care squat if we are overrun. He got the mexican water dept repaid to get a few votes but meanwhile, bullets are flying across the border due to the mexican drug wars. What does Perry do? Sends a few Tx Rangers :( as a bandaid.

White left us in Houston up a creek without a paddle. He stole from the city water department to pay for alot of unfunded budget items, and then on the way out the door he left a note...oh by the way, you need to raise taxes to pay for the huge shortfall in the utilities account b/c I took it all.

white is another tax and spend liberal...as he looks to go more and more national in his political scheme, look for him to become more and more liberal.

When he was just running the city, he did a pretty decent job. Once he decided to go for governor, and possibly congressman, he started leaning left, and spending money without funding it to get liberal credibility.

He was a good moderate, who went bad when he decided to go bigger.

Perry had alot of bad things too...but he is much better than White has become. I dont like Perry. I support him only b/c he is the lesser of the evils.

Am not by any means a Perry fan but-- in 19 years in Washington did you ever once hear Kay be any thing but just a steady republican vote-- one of 100 senators and you never eard much more than a peep-- an least Perry sttod up and said what a lot of us thought- asfar as White his after election day speel on WBAP this morning was as wishy washy as charlie Rangels explanation of his accounting problems :)

I heard that too.

Another Perry term is coming. I'll have to get used to it.

Since I voted for him, everyone can put me in with that "over 52% of Texans being completely nuts" category.

Isn't that the way "most" voting goes this day and time? Voting for the lesser of two evils? :(

The problem is, they are ALL snakes in the grass. In today's world, if you are a politician....you are crooked and as self serving as hell. You have to pick the lesser of evils.
