Texting While driving.

i am guilty of texting while driving on our county road, but you may only meet another outfit one day a month and i don't like traffic so i stay home on those days.

Justin, what hit me hard was this girl died on a lonely country road just like what you and I drive. I can look ahead ten miles in spots and see a car coming for 5 minutes. She was texting and drifted off the road, rolled and was ejected. Her Mom found her, authoritys got there and she died in the hospital. We all have too much to live for to die texting. Or kill somebody else.

I tried texting up here once.....never do it again. Hit the zipper on the side of the road...hard enough to drive straight with the wind blowing you around dont need to add anything else.
I know when I am going to work there is no one on the road but I dont take the chance.

It takes me forever to txt anything but when you watch kids do it they can type 200 words in about 30 seconds and never look down while doing it

Sorry for your loss Jody .

I don't text, ever. I also do not speak on my phone while driving ,do not have blue tooth in my pick up, although I am talented it is hard for me to talk on the phone and ,drive and shift at the same time . I let the phone go to voice mail, pull over and return the call if it is urgent. It irritates people that I do not answer but I do not care, even if it is a business call.

The amount of texting going on is really just stupid . People have lost all touch with the real world and actually have a hard time carrying on a conversation face to face.

Had to edit for terrible typos,
I have a calf in my foyer and he distracted me , did I mention that it is bloody cold out there today :help:

I'm so sorry for your loss Jody. I can only imagine what it's like to lose a child. Being only a sophomore in college and including Alex, I have now attended 3 funerals of high school friends all of whom were taken in car accidents. It doesn't get any easier as time goes on.

I rolled my pickup the second weekend in December coming back to school after going home to work a little bit and go pheasant hunting. I wasn't texting, i just got off the edge and over corrected. I walked away without a scratch and attribute that to my seat belt and the good Lord. He has a plan for everyone and even though we may not agree with it at the time, it's what is best for us.

Edited to add links: If anyone missed the show last night and would like to watch it here are the links to the full episode.

I don't text, I don't know how and I don't care to know. There is no cell service where I live, but I do have a cell phone that I will take with me when I travel just in case of an emergency. I have it off most of the time if I'm in town unless I'm expecting a call. I've never felt the need to be hanging on the phone, whether its the cell or my home phone. I rarely use either one.
I see nothing wrong with the days before cell phones, when people actually phoned you on your home phone when you were at home or left a message on your answering machine.

My wife and I watched the show together and it was gut wrenching for us to see how many lives were affected with the loss of Alex. We have a 6 year old boy and a 4 year old girl and all we could think of the whole time watching the tv program is if something would ever happen to one of our beloved children, how earth shattering it would be. There are enough youngsters killed in car accidents without the added distraction of texting. Nothing is worth the price of a precious heartbeat. This was a very touching program for us and a great reminder of how we don't get second chances in life.

Texting while driving is like driving drunk, you might make it home a 100 times, but sooner or later you will have blood on your hands.

This one is hard to watch. I told my "grown" daughters to watch this last year, I'm not sure if they did. Last spring, at work we had to go to our annual safety training, including safe driving, and I told our training lady about this and she included it in her training videos.

ABOUT A YEAR BACK, I WAS DRIVING DOWNTOWN BOZEMAN DURING RUSH HOUR WHEN I SAW A YOUNG LADY (COULDN'T HAVE BEEN 20 YEARS OLD, IF SHE WAS A DAY), DRIVING A LARGE, GOLD COLORED YUKON AND TEXTING WHILE WEAVING IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC!!! THIS LITTLE "LADY" RAN 3 CARS OFF THE ROAD AND SCARED THE HELL OUT OF THE REST OF US SMART ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF HER WAY.....I PULLED OVER AND DIALED 911 AND REPORTED HER!! I THEN FOLLOWED HER TO THE COSTCO PARKING LOT AND TOLD HER THAT IT WOULD BE ME SHE COULD THANK FOR THE TICKET SHE WOULD SOON BE ISSUED!! I HAD MY DAUGHTER WITH ME AND I WAS FURIOUS THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE SO SELFISH AS TO PUT OTHERS IN DANGER!! WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO SAY TO SOMEONE CAN WAIT TIL YOU PULL OVER AND ARE ABLE TO SAY IT SAFELY!! MY BOYS HAVE TOLD ME ABOUT FAMILY MEMBERS WHO TEXT WHILE DRIVE AND IT SCARES ME!! IF SOMEONE TEXTS ME WHILE DRIVING, I HAND THE PHONE TO MY 15 YEAR OLD TO REPLY!! JUST HOPE HE IS TYPING EXACTLY WHAT I AM TELLING HIM TO!!
