We're supposed to get it some time today, too. And there's a dirty east wind howling outside. Should make for a lovely day! It'll be interesting hauling bales. I just hope the husband doesn't expect me to bring the tractor home at 10:30 at night again like he did last night!

SHHEEEESSSHHH Shelly- you just need to convince him there are other things you should be doing at 10:30 at night

We're getting the wind this morning-- out of the SE at about 25-35 mph and plumb chilly- 29 degrees now....They're giving us a slight chance of snow all thru the weekend- but they said the Canadians have left the freezer door open and we could expect lows down below zero by Sunday....BRRRRRR

You just had to rub it in, didn't ya? I just got back from moving the cows to a new days worth of feed, and holy cow, is that wind cold!!!!! Thank goodness, we have those cows trained to come when we call, because I sure didn't want to be out in the wind any longer than I had to. Forecast says it's gonna get real cold, and stay that way for a loooooong time. Too long! I think my husband can take over moving the cows from now on, I'll stay home.

My cows are grazeing hayfields right now only feeding my weaned heifers and bulls. But the way it sounds Monday may be a bit different.I have'nt even chopped ice on ponds yet been very mild here.

My cows hearing is getting better-they heard a baletruck from a halfmile and came up to the gate but got sent back-it's bit nippy for sure. Lots of snow to lick now so dugout troubles are over.

Better than last winter eh.So are your cows still picking or have you started bale grazeing? When you do that how many bales do you set out at a time?I may have to be gone for a week and was maybe gonna try something like that to save on labor for the help.

Well I'm pretty scientific I put out a semiload in each field-depending on how many cows we have running together that will last a 4-7 days. The first few days that the cows switch from water to snow they feel a bit sorry for themselves but they soon get over it. Our lead sterer was the culprit today-they pretty much follow wherever he goes lol. It looks like major waste about half way through but by the end they've got it cleaned up pretty good.

I've had mine lick snow before the pond we had for water was bad so they would drink a little and lick snow tounge marks all over in the snow.

Been an old fashioned winter here so far. In fact I'm starting to think those preaching global warming just like to hear themselves talk. We haven't had a day above -15 or a night warmer than -25 for weeks. And we got nearly two feet of snow. I plowed snow traps for the dept. of highways today in our fields that border the road.
It sure is nice to have winter that's actually winter.

No snow here yet- but the weather boys are saying it could get downright chilly about Sun-Tues...Some of the computer runs are now predicting 15 Below before it starts warming up on about Wed...Guess I'll get my first test on whats ready for winter or not...

Weather boys say this has the potential to really get cold as the front moving south is now producing temps of 40 Below and lower in central Alaska this morning.....BRRRRRRR

-18 with windchill of-25 this morning :? The wind blew most of the night,so plowing through large snow banks on the roads are probably going to be the norm today,oh ya AFTER we get out of the yard if we can

Daughter slid right off our road into the willow lined ditch on our driveway last night, daddy had a fun time getting her out,you know after the famous daddy lecture"What are you doing driving in this kind of weather"Because of all the snow there was problams with the power lines at her place and she had no power for a few hours before she came over. A kinda sorry grunt was her daddys reply

Well Shelly and Mrs. Greg are sharing again-- I woke up to the ground all white    Have about 2 inches on the ground and its still snowing lightly- was 6 above- but luckily little wind....Still only 9 degrees and supposed to drop down well below zero tonite- altho they are a little unsure how cold it will get.....

I have about 40 2 and 3 year old 1st calf heifers running together in a hay meadow by the house thats getting a little short- felt sorry for them, so rolled out one of the 3 year old bales I have left as I want to get rid of the old hay first....Was actually surprised- except for the outer 6 inches it looked almost as good as the day we baled it...Anyway they sure went after it.....

Finally quit snowing- and now the temp is dropping...Already 2 Below...Ended up with about 4 inches of snow out of this bout- and they are predicting about 4 more the first part of the week...

Hard telling how cold it will get- showing that 150 miles west of us (Havre area) its 18 Below....

Weather boys missed it again by a little--6 Below in town, 9 Below down here on the river and 17 Below at the north ranch- looks like a lot of readings close to 20 Below along the border.....Just come in from outside and its just a little frosty- luckily no wind, yet...Thats supposed to change this afternoon as they have a blowing and drifting snow warning out....
Where's rancher with his Grumpy pants when I need them?.....

I hope this cold moves east fast...I'd gladly share with all the Dakotans and just give it to you....
