The 2 Cult Phenomenon

Interesting article this morning- about the division of the country- and echoes what I've been saying the last few years- this country has never been so divided....Like they comment, what used to be my country, right or wrong- has become my party, right or wrong... Follow the cult... :( Not only with voters but with the politicians- party over principle... :(

For the coming week, Rasmussen will weight national polls with 39.3% Democrats, 33.3% Republicans, and 27.4% independents. These numbers come from 21,000 interviews done during the past 6 weeks. The partisan breakdown is important because self-identifying Democrats and Republicans vote overwhelmingly for their party. In fact, they can't believe anything bad about their party. Rasmussen took a poll asking who won the Vice-Presidential debate and Obama supporters gave the nod to Biden by 81% to 3%. McCain supporters thought Palin won, 76% to 5%. Were they watching the same debate? The CBS poll of undecided voters said Biden won 46% to 21%. The CNN poll gave it to Biden 51% to 36%. The country is so polarized that it is apparently impossible for a McCain supporter to say: "Biden is a much more experienced debater than Palin so he naturally won the debate. By the same token, McCain is a much more experienced candidate than Obama, so I am voting for him." The model is: my party, right or wrong (Version 1.0 was "my country, right or wrong").

OT...great post. Something I think you and I and hopefully many others will agree on. I've never voted a straight ticket in my life. Voted for Bush, Voted for Clinton (once), voted for Bush Sr. and Reagan. But voted for Carter as well....what the heck do I know ??? Can't understand anyone that will ALWAYS put party before Country.

Heck- I'm one up on you- I didn't make the Clinton mistake- I voted for Perot (which if more folks had we wouldn't be in this economic crisis now )...Almost voted for Kerry- but because of the war didn't...I now kick myself in the rear...

Last Dem I voted for President was old Jimmy Carter- and that was mainly because of the crooked Nixon admin trying to tear holes in the Constitution and putting themselves above the rule of law-- the same reason I can't vote for McSame or the Repubs that let Bush run amuck this time...
