each cowboy is different---like a horse that will buck
a true cowboy never changes---he loves his horse and his truck
there have been several models---over the years
some with large families---some alone with their fears
a "on the range cowboy"---with an ol' dog named Blue
or the salebarn jockey---in a thunderstorm too
like the bronc rider and bull rider---ride'n their rough stock
with a 8 second ride---and a fast stop clock
the feedlot cowboy---out ride'n the beeves
a check'n for illness---a talent he leaves
we must not forget---the lonely buckaroo
who sits by his fire---with the full moon and his chew
the urban cowboy---who thinks he's a jock
i've always felt---was kind of a crock
the dress up cowboy---with his pointed boot
and the tight wad cowboy---a guard'n his loot
the farmer cowboy---with his john deere
a check'n his cattle---with his girlfriend near
and the cocaine cowboy---with a jolt in his felt
are names of a few -who wear a cowboy belt
but the legend lives true---of the "American Cowboy"
with the range and the mountains---a life style of hard work and much joy
The American Cowboy---a man of true grit
sit'n high in his saddle--- with his horse and a bit
