The Ant & the Grasshopper (with "modern translation")

TRADITIONAL VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be responsible for yourself!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*****MODERN VERSION*****:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green." Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We shall overcome." Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer! The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2008!

Let's say I break into your house

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own
borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.
Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't
like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family
(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house. And oh yeah, I get a free education, where you have to pay your own way through college.(TEEHEE)
And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold,
uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me. And don't forget to make sure your forms are in MY

language - I need to understand them...

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America
if you agree, pass it on ( in English ).

Share it if you see the value of it.

If not blow it off.........
along with your future Social Security funds, and a lot of other things.

GW's current Mexican and Immigration Policy-eh :???: They forgot the part that if I am a drug smuggler, hauling across tons of illegal drugs, law enforcement cannot shoot me- or else law enforcement goes to jail- and GW's appointees in the US prosecuters office will protect me..... :( :( :(

GW's current Mexican and Immigration Policy

Just because I am a conservative republican doesn't mean I have to support "every" Presidential policy or that he has to agree with me on every issue..

I didn't put this email up to "support Bush,.. but to show the liberals that their "immigration amnesty policy was wrong"..

I put it up because I believe Illegal immigration is illegal.... just as I agree that welfare sucks the life out of those who feed upon it..

But when considering GW Bush or kerry, (or even Gore) I would still have voted for Bush.. Do you actually believe having Kerry as president would have solved this issue in favor of the American citizens???

Did your democratic senator help your position on this policy?

# Voted YES on establishing a Guest Worker program. (May 2006)
# Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security. (May 2006)
# Voted YES on giving Guest Workers a path to citizenship. (May 2006)
# Voted YES on allowing more foreign workers into the US for farm work. (Jul 1998)
# Voted YES on visas for skilled workers. (May 1998)

And which Democratic Senator would that be? Both Baucus and Tester voted against the Kennedy/Bush amnesty bill- and again against the Dream Act.....And both have sent me letters saying they support closing the borders and no amnesty unlike some neocon in the White House wants....

Heres Testers and Baucus's record...Even tho I'm no big Baucus supporter even his looks more conservative and sensible voting than some neocon we know that is parading around the White House calling himself a Republican and a conservative.....

Baucus

can't change his past votes.

while recently he has seen fit to vote against Bush.. he has supported immigrant issues up until Sept of 06, at the expense of Americans....

Funny how you give him credit for recent changes to his flawed immigration policy yet fail to give GW the same credit...??

I don't support GW Bush's past policy, nor the democrats present policy.

Are you saying GW has changed? Looks to me like he's still allowing invaders in in droves while doing everything in his power to stall building the fence he was given the money to build- and still pretty much avoiding enforcing the immigration laws he swore to enforce... And even after the populace of the country told them thats not what they want....At least Baucus- who's known as a freetrader and globalist- is smart enough to see the handwriting on the wall and change.....

But GW is too arrogant to listen to anyone like the common folk of America....Its King Georges way- or no way  :( :( :(

The Bush Administration says that vastly increased checks will become a fact of life in every US workplace. On August 10, Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff told reporters that SSA would send letters to 160,000 employers on September 4, listing all workers whose numbers don't jibe. After a ninety-day grace period, the Administration will require employers to discharge those whose numbers are still in question. Those letters would list the names of millions of workers.

Implementation of the new regulation was halted on August 31, however, after unions filed suit against it.

Even when Bush does take steps ... the liberals stop it.. then whine he didn't do anything...

Here is the new excuse. The liberals stopped me!!!

No it is an ongoing problem, nothing new,... when a law or policy comes out to actually solve a problem, the liberals drag it into court, and stall long enough for the problem to become worse then they will whine how the poor and children are hurt by the ruling,

happens all the time ... but then again if you want the aclu and unions to run this country,... then make your incredibly stupid comment, bury your head in your ass and blame Bush,.. it works well for most liberals...

I am a democrat. I am against gun control, and completly appreciate the stories in the ant and grasshopper posts. Have been accused of being a closet republican, but that is not so, I just don't agree with all policy of democrats. My question is:
What is a liberal?

Easy to spot the liberal.......they are NOT the ones whining about how everything is liberalisms fault and they ARE the ones demanding accountability from public servants.
