These guys have access to the missile system that shot down the Malaysian airlines plane

The Azov Battalion (Ukrainian: Батальйон «Азов») is a paramilitary Territorial Defense Battalion of Ukraine[3][4] volunteer unit of the National Guard, operated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Journalist Alec Luhn has described the unit as openly Neo-Nazi.[5] The Ukrainian Ministry has stated that the the battalion is not Neo-Nazi.[1] The battalion is based in Mariupol in the Azov Sea coastal region.[6] The battalion's commander is Andriy Biletsky (Ukrainian: Андрій Білецький), the head of the neo-Nazi[7][8][9] political groups Social-National Assembly and Patriot of Ukraine.[1] The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs special police company is led by Volodymyr Shpara (Ukrainian: Володимир Шпара), the leader of both the Vasylkiv's Patriot of Ukraine and the Vasylkiv's Right Sector organizations in the Kiev region.[10][11][12]

The battalion is also referred to as the "Men in Black," and is one of a series of paramilitary forces that operate in Ukraine.[3] More than half of the battalion’s members are Russian-speaking eastern Ukrainians,[13] and its professional English-language social media pages, and far-right ideology, have attracted extremist fighters from other locations in Europe.[14]

Yet so circumspect and noncommittal was the Dutch report that “everyone will find something here to support their case,” Reed Foster, a defense analyst at IHS Jane’s in London, said. “It is a very vanilla account of a very tragic event.”

snip

Mr. Foster said Dutch investigators had been deliberately noncommittal but predicted that, over time, “there will be a winnowing down of the options. They will eventually cross the Rubicon and say that the overwhelming evidence is that this was a surface-to-air missile.” But even then, he added, “we won’t know definitively who pressed the button.”

“We were filming a report about Ukraine’s AZOV battalion in the eastern city of Urzuf, when we came across these soldiers,” Oysten Bogen, a correspondent for the private television station, told NBC News. Minutes before the images were taped, Bogen said he had asked a spokesperson whether the battalion had fascist tendencies. “The reply was: absolutely not, we are just Ukrainian nationalists,” Bogen said.

The key figures in the Azov Battalion are its commander, Andriy Biletsky, and his deputy, Ihor Mosiychuk.

Andriy Biletsky is also the leader of a Ukrainian organisation called the Social National Assembly. Its aims are stated in one of their online publications:

"to prepare Ukraine for further expansion and to struggle for the liberation of the entire White Race from the domination of the internationalist speculative capital"

"to punish severely sexual perversions and any interracial contacts that lead to the extinction of the white man"

Officials in Kiev say the militias and the army coordinate their actions, but the militias, which count about 7,000 fighters, are angry and, at times, uncontrollable. One known as Azov, which took over the village of Marinka, flies a neo-Nazi symbol resembling a Swastika as its flag.

WHATEVER,.. if you want to smear an entire country based on some nationalists.. so be it,..

A 16 July 2014 report placed the Azov Battalian's strength at 300

some might think you and putin make fine propagandists..

But I will just stick to thinking you are a creep who thinks invading another country and committing genocide is easy for a people to forget.. I am willing to bet the Ukrainians haven't forgotten who killed millions in their country.

unfortunately for the Ukraine, the Azov battalion could be just as bad for them as the Russians, in the future.

Kinda like arming "moderate rebels" in Syria...

Mark Galeotti, an expert on Russian and Ukrainian security affairs at New York University, fears battalions like Azov are becoming “magnets to attract violent fringe elements from across Ukraine and beyond”. “The danger is that this is part of the building up of a toxic legacy for when the war ends,” he said.

Extremist paramilitary groups who have built up “their own little Freikorps” and who are fundamentally opposed to finding consensus may demand a part in public life as victors in the conflict, Mr Galeotti added. “And what do you do when the war is over and you get veterans from Azov swaggering down your high street, and in your own lives?”

Ukraine: Report exposes 'stomach-turning' violence

Amnesty International says that it has gathered "graphic and compelling evidence of savage beatings and other torture" by pro-Russian separatist groups in eastern Ukraine.

The human rights group says that protesters and journalists have been targeted over the last three months.

An Amnesty report, Abductions and Torture in Eastern Ukraine, says that hundreds of people have been abducted.

'Abhorrent practice'

"The bulk of the abductions are being perpetrated by armed separatists, with the victims often subjected to stomach-turning beatings and torture. But there is also evidence of a smaller number of abuses by pro-Kiev forces," Amnesty's Deputy Europe and Central Asia Director Denis Krivosheev said.

Amnesty report: Targeting of pro-Ukrainian activists

Hanna, a pro-Ukrainian activist, told Amnesty International how she was abducted by armed men in the eastern city of Donetsk on 27 May. She was held for six days before being released in a prisoner exchange.

"My face was smashed, he punched me in the face with his fist, he was trying to beat me everywhere, I was covering myself with my hands… I was huddled in the corner, curled up in a ball with my hands around my knees. He was angry that I was trying to protect myself. He went out and came back with a knife."

Hanna showed the Amnesty researchers scars on her neck, arms and legs where she said she had been "sliced" with a knife.

It says that the researchers were provided with a list of more than 100 civilians who have been held captive and that allegations of torture have been made in most cases.

"Abductions have taken place across eastern Ukraine, in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Amnesty says.

"Those targeted include not only police, the military and local officials, but also journalists, politicians, activists, members of electoral commissions and businesspeople."

Amnesty says now that pro-Kiev forces are re-establishing control over areas of the east "new captives are being released almost daily with an increasing number of disturbing cases emerging".

But there is also evidence of a smaller number of abuses by pro-Kiev forces," Amnesty's Deputy Europe and Central Asia Director Denis Krivosheev said.

“All sides in this conflict have shown disregard for civilian lives and are blatantly violating their international obligations,” said Salil Shetty, Amnesty International’s Secretary General, who travels to Kyiv and Moscow in the coming days.

as I suspected, the volunteer battalions have no discipline and are evil...the are not doing the Ukraine any favours...in the public relations war

Amnesty International has also received credible reports of abductions and beatings carried out by volunteer battalions operating alongside regular Ukrainian armed forces.

http://www.kyivpost.com/opinion/op-ed/amnesty-international-mounting-evidence-of-war-crimes-and-russian-involvement-in-ukraine-363644.html

For example, on 23 August a security guard in Oleksandrivka, Luhansk region was seized by several dozen armed men who arrived in vehicles flying Ukrainian flags. At least one was marked “Battalion Aidar” (a militia group operating in the Luhansk region). Witnesses said his captors accused him of collaborating with separatists, beat him with rifle butts and held him incommunicado until 27 August, when his family were informed he was being held in another town, in the local office of Ukraine’s state security service.

Amnesty International is calling on the Ukrainian authorities to conduct an effective investigation into allegations of serious violations of international humanitarian law and bring to justice individuals responsible for war crimes. Commanders and civilian leaders may also be prosecuted for war crimes as a matter of command responsibility if they knew or should have known about the crimes and failed to prevent them or punish those responsible.

“Civilians in Ukraine deserve protection and justice,” Salil Shetty said.
