 Yesterday after I rode the lots and pastures, I went to the home pasture and rode on one of the flats. Turned my horse loose and started to walk home. It's only about 1/8 mile so does my fat but and asthma some good. Went back with the 4 wheeler to pick up my saddle but met my horse coming wide open. I had only been gone about 3 minutes and he was grazing when I left. Something sent him through a barbwire fence. We was so spooked that he was headed north to nowhere never slowing down. He ended up at my neighbors and it took me about 5 minutes to calm him down and get him caught. He is never hard to catch. Luckily he only got superficial wire cuts and nothing serious. Broke the top wire on the fence.

My neighbors were all worried that I was ok and after it was over, so was I. I walked home   The only thing that would send him through a fence around here is another mountain lion. They see their tracks on the river a mile away quite often. I just got this horse over being afraid of being in the pasture from something spooking him severely 3 years ago. We are pretty sure that was a cat too. Here we go again.

saw a picture this morning that a lady took south of Belleville ks. big cat tracking down a deer.....

I think it was one of those motion detector cameras. we have them here, and the wardens claim they are no where near this area, but they are quick to remind you that it is a federal offense to shoot one

I am pretty sure I saw one walking along our treeline one day about 2 or 3 years ago. I wouldn't be able to see a bobcat that far out with out bionoculars. It was also too light brown. We also have lots of bobcat around. I started hunting deer when we moved here in 02. I was sitting in our deer blind one beautiful afternoon looking for a buck my first year hunting. One just walked past a clearing and behind some cedars when I happened to look that way. All of a sudden he was back in the open with his hackles ? raised and stomping his foot. He was facing off with a bobcat. As the cat came my way, the buck turned to give me a good side shot. I was so excited that I had gotten a buck :D even though he turned out to be a 2*2 :( . I was such a chicken that I wouldn't dress him out there because of the cat. i hauled him home to dress out. All the neighbors said "why didn't you shoot the cat??" Being the blonde that I am, I was deer hunting and besides, it wasn't legal  It did make for a great memory of my first buck though. BTW next buck 4*4 and last year 4*5. Won't go down, so hope I don't have to shoot a doe this year!!

My horse has spent the entire summer in that pasture and has been just fine. We have tons of deer, turkey, etc. so he is used to all of that. I have heard several people say they are turning them(mountain lion) loose by Fullerton. Guess we'll never know for sure. My neighbor has a dried cow pie with a perfect paw print in it.

Not a federal offense, at least not in this state.. Since they "don't officially exist" in this state all are treated as escaped exotics/feral hogs. No season,no weapons limitation no nothing... People are really pushing the DNR to acknowledge that they are here, I say why bother, the way it is set up now is perfect... One killed 2 years ago about 30 miles from here.. Little male kitty.

Wolves got listed for the first time in Illinois this past year as protected. They aways had the federal protection but now the state added their level as well. Have a write up in the DNR regulations about it this year... Still, I have a feeling the old "I thought it was a Coyote"" will work for a few more people.

A mountain lion has been several times between Bingham Nebraska and Ashby Nebraska. Spotted by different people and even ran in front of a train crew waiting to be picked up right in front of the stopped engine.
