Bush Mocked As He Arrives on Inauguration Dais
@ 11:52 am by Hill Staff
POST UPDATED AT 6:45 p.m.:

The crowd packed on the west side of the Capitol grounds serenaded President Bush in mocking fashion when he took to the inaugural stage alongside Vice President Dick Cheney.

"Nah nah nah nah, hey hey, good-bye," a section of the crowd chanted.

The crowd packed immediately below the podium received Bush in stony silence when he took his seat on the stage surrounding the podium where Barack Obama was scheduled to take the oath office to become the 44th president of the United States.

The jeers are among the final public feedback Bush will receive as president.

First Lady Laura Bush and Lynne Cheney received light applause when they were announced to the crowd.

Bush is scheduled to depart from the East Front of the Capitol by helicopter after the swearing-in ceremony.

Obama received the loudest sustained cheers from thousands who chanted his name.

Before Obama took the stage the crowd gave its warmest welcome to former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.)

Vice-president elect Joe Biden and Michelle Obama also received warm welcomes.

House Democratic lawmakers formed a raucous audience from the section of seats rising immediately south of the speaker's podium.

They launched into a "Rahmbo" chant when they spotted White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.

Later, when President Bush left the Capitol grounds in a helicopter, he received some cheers from a crowd of onlookers.

But at least one man was seen giving the chopper what Bush used to call the "one-finger salute."

Another man, with a thick New England accent, yelled, "Go back to Crawford!"

And a woman shouted, "Good riddance! He's leaving!"

If anything has ever shown just how crazy the Liberals are it would be this whole Bush/Obama infatuation. They have no idea just how silly they look. To hate one President so much and to Hold a new one in so high of regards. It is just unbelievable and very strange.

It scares me how much they put faith in Obama and how many bad things he and the Liberal Congress may slip by people because they do not want to look like idiots supporting a man they held as the Messiah if he fails.

I fear he and congress will do things that will ruin America forever, the reality is it will not show for a decade or two and then it will be to late.

Most likely the economy will rebound as it always has done, media will give Obama credit for it when in reality it would have happened whomever the President was. If they paint things as dark as they have, then it will be easy to show Obama as a success in near future.

I have no doubt he will serve 8 years, and then in 10 to 20 years things will be so bad they make today's times look wonderful.

and the environment loving liberals sure trashed the mall..

Inaugural revelers are lucky they didn't get fined for littering. As crowds cleared the city Tuesday, their trash covered the National Mall and Washington Monument grounds after President Barack Obama's inauguration.

They left behind plastic bottles, newspapers, food wrappers, gloves and even American flags they had been waving. Trash bins overflowed with items people tossed.

Twenty-one-year-old Laura Wiesner of Youngstown, Ohio, was on the cluttered Mall near the Smithsonian's American History Museum. She says people's quick exit -- and failure to pick up after themselves -- was a stark contrast to how grand the event had been.

,... I was deeply concerned about the amount of trash left behind by the inaugural crowd in Washington. The mall was absolutely littered with tons of trash and refuse. It’s my opinion that this total disregard by the visitors speaks volumes about the country’s citizenry. Just toss your trash on the ground; someone else will clean up the mess.

I water bottles may be the least of the problem. I was listening to the news the other day and they were talking about the million plus people expected and the fact there was only 5000 portapotties and the reporter asked what will people do and the others answer was cop a squat.
