The Debate

I thought both candidates did a poor job of directly answering the questions posed. Seems they would spend 5 seconds on the question and then the rest of the time on a mini stump speech.

I was looking for "zingers", and McCain landed one with wondering if maybe tonight was the night Obama would disclose what his penalty for noninsurance would be. Obama didn't answer.

CNN Poll: Obama won the night
Posted: 11:31 PM ET

From CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser

Polls suggests Obama has won tonight’s debate.
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (CNN) — A national poll of debate watchers suggests that Barack Obama won the second presidential debate.

Fifty-four percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released 30 minutes after the end of the debate say that Obama did the best job Tuesday night, with 30 percent saying McCain performed better.

According to the poll, 64 percent had a favorable opinion of Obama after the debate, an an increase of four points from his pre-debate showing. McCain’s approval rating remains unchanged: 51 percent of those polled had a favorable opinion of McCain after the debate.

I love the folks over at get drunk and gag down McCain site...They had a running commentary tonight of the debate and heres some of their comments...

Them poor folk gonna ruin their liver before the elections.....

“what is the best way to view the debate?”

Drunk, I’d say.

my intention was to take a shot every time one of them says “my friend”,

Is it too late to change the ticket to Palin/McCain?

Well, I’ve got a bottle of Bookers that I’m going to break the seal on in 4 weeks.

Plus I’m scheduled to give blood the day before the election and I find it much easier to get drunk when I’m a pint low so it’s probably a good thing I’m within staggering distance of my polling site.

Well, that was a disappointment! I should be able to survive the next four years in the Peoples Republic of Amerika as long as the socialist don’t ban 12 year old Jamison

Leave the bottle…

I’m going to need it.

.

I've been reading some of the blogs- and the Republicans for Obama ( www.republicansforobama.org ) site has over 40 comments and they pretty much agree with you...Too much time spent trying to say what the other one did or did not do- and not enough saying how you will fix it.....

Almost all the sites say that McCain needs to drop the negative and attack ads and develop some positive plans or his goose is cooked.....

I thought it was boring and poorly led. It reminded me of the brickyard 400 with a pit stop every ten laps. Would have been better if they would have just asked each what is wrong with the other. How anyone could claim winning is a fool.

I hear ya, cutterone. At the end of that debate, I felt like a guy that had been eating nothing but salads for a week, and had just eaten another one.

I want to see McCain nail Olenin on Ayers. I want to see him make Olenin explain how he never heard any inflammatory talk from Wright in those 20 years. McCain needs to show the world what hole Olenin crawled out of.

You know fellas McCain should have at least stuck around for a few minutes after the debate talking ,etc that's kind of who he is supposed to be isn't it?

How do you find 80 folks in one community who have not yet made up their mind to serve as an audience?

That is what I find unbelievable.

It seems most everyone in this forum was pro or against months ago.

Obama did well in a format where he's not comfortable. From what I saw, I'd have said McCain won, but polls are showing that Obama did better. Obama's a serious person. He's not an "off the cuff" person and tends to take time to think about a question before he gives an answer. That doesn't lend itself well to town hall forums, but from what I've seen most people think he did quite well. No major errors by either of them. The "that one" line by McCain is going to get a lot of play. His disdain for Obama was there for all to see.

If you watched the graph at the bottom of the screen on CNN as undecided voters gave their opinions during the debate, you'd see why McCain didn't throw more "zingers". Every time either candidate attacked the other, the approval line went way down. And McCain did the most attacking.

I was flipping channels afterwards- and actually all the pundits and the folks on the street interviews said the negative ads were turning them off- that they have heard it all before- that they want the candidates to give some positive solutions to the problems....

David Gergen said its killing McCains campaign- and the best thing McCain could do this weekend is lock himself in the room with several of the top economical advisors and come up with some kind of plan...
The old "my friends I am a regulator that has experience regulating and will cut your taxes my friend" isn't working- folks see it as a lie and see right thru it- and he needs to think about the future and forget his past because his record on regulation is terrible...

He was loud and clear. I aint paying enough. 6.5% FICA, 35% Fed Income, 10% 401K, 8% combined med/dental insurance, contributions to United Way etc leaves me taking home a whopping 40 1/2% of my salary. He's going to do all he can to make it less than that. You heard him say so.

When he is elected I will simply quit work and live off of the royalties. They are tax at a much lower rate. fff and OT & you can fund my United Way contributions. I won't be working.

Polls: Obama won the Town-Hall Event

A CBS poll poll of 516 uncommitted voters taken just after the event showed that 40% thought that Obama won and 26% said McCain won. On the all-important issue of the economy, Obama got a boost. Before the event 55% thought he would make the right decisions on the economy; afterwards it was 68%. McCain also gained strength, going from 41% to 48%. On the issue of who best understands the voters needs, Obama went from 59% to 80% and McCain went from 33% to 44%.

CNN also ran a poll of 675 adults and also concluded that Obama won. Here 54% said Obama performed better and 30% said McCain did. The people polled thought Obama was the more intelligent person by 57% to 25% and expressed his views more clearly 60% to 30%. In a way, these numbers are not surprising. Obama has degrees from two Ivy League schools and was president of the Harvard Law Review. McCain went to the Naval Academy and came in 894th out of 899 students in his class.

I do not understand, am i missing something? The math does not add up if Obama went to 80% and McCain went to 44% that comes out to 124%.

OT are you posting some lies and or bias articles with inaccuracies again?

ACORN should be hiring OT to work for them, he seems to have the same Moral fortitude that they look for in their workers.
