The first baby

had to get pulled. What a start to our calving season. She had a front let back, but Hanta Yo got it up (while sw stood by and let Hanta do the gross work, without any gloves on) and sw helped her get the baby out all the way. We're glad that the first little heifer is alive though!!

That looks like a pretty big calf for a heifer all right.
I'm happy everything turned out well. Maybe sw is letting Hanta Yo
practice for when he is gone...

NR, Hanta brought her post about Freeze Branding back up on Ranch Talk if you wanna check it out. I think we'll take some more pics of the same cows now since the brands should show up now.

sw gave her an hour, nothing happening but 1 foot out, brought her in, calf had a leg back...I think she could have had it by herself if both feet were out...

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Happy endings just make me want to  with joy!!!!!

So glad everything turned out ok, and that someone was there to help out when it was needed!

Didn't always happen that way on our place, growing up, but even in our rough country where you could ride within 5' of a bovine and never see it, we only ever lost 1, calving.

We've been catching some moisture. I didn't want to say anything cause I know how dry it is for the most of you. No need to rub it in...

jeez, we pulled another one today. 2 out of 3 have been pulled, not too good of a start to our calving season!!! hopefully it gets better :!: the cow today was just as small as the first one, plus it was really hot, and she was exhausted, and didnt want to push at all. dang cows anyway, but we got the lil baby out and it was really alert, lookin around, makin noise, last time someone checked on him he was gettin some dinner lol
