Wrangler perdy much stays home, I do take him with me occasionally, but I can't take both of em at the same time. They are like monkey's ridin in an enclosed truck. Both want on my lap, or both want to look out the same window, and will fuss....Just like kids :? The only time I"ll take him and leave Rockie at home is when Lil Lilly stays home with her. Which gittin Lil Lilly to stay home? HaHaHa......she wants to go everywhere with us, fraid she might miss somethin I guess. I need a back seat in my lil truck, then I could make one ride in the back and one in the front. Seperate em....just like ya would the kids. LOL The close up picture of rockie was under a big mulberry tree out in the pasture. I don't know what kinda grass it is that grows under the shade trees and along the over hangin trees on the creek, but the cows never eat it. Nut grass maybe?
It does still look green, when ya look out across the pastures, but the grass is not thick. Does that make sense.? I was thinkin when I posted these pictures, folks hear me beggin for rain, and prolly wonderin why since it looks so green. Yeah it is green,(weeds are green) but the grass is sooooo short. I have had the shreader set on the lowest settin, on uneven ground I've drug dirt numerous times, but I'm not cuttin the grass, blades aren't even touchin it. Now if this lil storm will come on and git it'self over land it might drop some rain. As it is, we've got all of 1 1/2 tenths of an inch in the last few days and with the heat it evaperated near bout soon as it got here. That lil storm out there in the gulf is lookin more n more like a tropical depression. And it's just hanggggginnnnn along the edge of the gulf. Blows up durin the day, and dies back to just small stuff at night. Somethin like that come in, and do what they normally do...we'll have the creeks outta banks, and mud......wouldn't that be nice?

Not by a long shot. We have talked to a fella that has a deer lease here fairly close by that usually just shreads the old hay field on it. He has a brother that's partner on the lease and he's gonna git back with us. But hopin they'll let us bale it instead of them mowin it down. That'd help out a bunch. Our hay fields are lookin ok..not doin a whole lot of growin, but they are green.....so hopefully it'll git a shot of water and it'll come on and we'll get another cuttin.

That's one of the resons I like to plant these cane type grasses,if the summer crop fails you can plant winter crops.
I know some folks overseed costal fields,I just never got the hang of it.................good luck

We'll prolly go with tryin to plant some rye grass again this year, even tho last year it didn't do well. It was because it didnt have the moisture on it when it needed it. And then none later on after it did finally come up LOL
We've been discussin takin in about 20 more acres of pasture and fencin it, and spriggin it with coastal or tifton 85

I have some fields that I bale ,tifton 85 and one that is jiggs if I was gonna sprigg bermuda I would use plain ole costal,I sure never seen any big advantage to the others.............good luck

PS if you do plant rye let me know and I will give you some info on one that is good,at least twice as good as any I have planted, expensive but good.
