Been awhile since I posted any pics. Like H I didn't want to bore you but I got over that because this is how my dad gets to see all the photo's I take while he and my wife do all the work.

Young neighbor with an old very low mile truck. Yes the speedometer is in miles not kilometers.

An off color calf (for me) for Shortgrass to enjoy.

The color I like a couple days after weaning.

I wasn't bored, per. Thanks.
I just really enjoy pictures of cows strung out like the one
you posted. I've heard that getting cows to string out
when trailing them somewhere is becoming a lost art.
Maybe that's partly why I enjoy seeing it so much.

Those were great pictures. Never seen somebody unload straight from a semi on the road and have the cattle just run right into the pasture!

It's a GMC instead of a Chevy...but it's still the right body style...69, 70, 71, and 72 :D

My sister had a 72, it was a little different than that.

Starting to look like fall-time in the foothills also Per. Your calves look good.

We weaned and shipped three loads this past weekend, too busy to take photos even though I spent Saturday sorting with the camera hanging from my neck. Calves were 70 lbs heavier than I had guessed them. They are all pretty close to you now.

I stand corrected. We don't have a levies here to go with the song anyway. It only has 27000 miles on it. Belonged to his grandfather.

Nortexsook, the side door does save the need for a chute. When the air is out of the bags it is an easy hop out. The downside is the back end has to be left empty in order to get the top unloaded so if you want a load cows need to be in the doghouse which doesn't have much clearance. We just had 37 on board so we didn't need the extra space. Just as well because this road has a 90% ban on it. I always worry until we get a few off.

Faster, the cows do the stringing and the cowboys exercise gentle persuasion and patients. Not too big of a trick. The hard part or maybe the impossible part is getting them all in the picture. The leaders are over the hill and the trailers are still passing through the bush in that pick. Jassy has posted some of the best trailing and round up photo's I have seen. It takes a big herd and huge country to get a great shot like hers. I defer to the sandhills for the best round up shots. Now if my town cows escape I could get some cool pics in a residential street or Wal-Mart parking lot with police cowboys, guns drawn and sirens blaring. I don't suppose Mr. Faster would be interested in a round up in town. :!:

Nice pictures, per. I also really like the one where the cattle are all traveling single file. Around here, the off-colored cattle that don't fit the bunch often end up in the Sandhills Cattle Association carcass contest. Once in a while they will even bring home a belt buckle.

It is fall for sure gcreek. Our guessing ability usually proves wrong against a scale. I'm glad they weighed up. I could go visit them for you it you like. Do you still own them?

No, we took the money and ran.

As close mouthed as the buyer we sold to is we may never know where they went until next year if the feeder was happy with them and wants more.

Mr. FH looked at the pictures, per. He says, "Cool country. Great People.
Good cattle.
Neat the way those cows can unload from the side of the truck.
If they get out in town, don't call me..."

Oh, and gcreek, he said you weren't a very good guesser. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

We were glad to hear they were heavier than you thought.
What a good year this has been!

I agree with Shortgrass. Any color is fine. I really love the photo of the cattle all strung out in a cowtrail. That's what we want...calm cattle that are enjoying life.
Thank you.
