The Latest Polling- Obama Bounce

Yesterday Barack Obama said that he expected his polls to drop since he hadn't been campaigning for a week (as if he didn't know the effect of having Americans watch 200,000 Germans cheering and waving American flags). To his "surprise," Obama got a bounce in the national polls. Gallup has him ahead 48% to 41% (was 45% to 43% before the trip). Rasmussen has him ahead 49% to 43% (was tied at 46%). An NBC/WSJ poll has Obama on top 47% to 41%. A 5% win in the popular vote will almost assuredly result in a landslide in the electoral college.

The latest polls...As I mentioned earlier- I have to agree with the other article I read the other day that said they thought the polls didn't show the true picture as what in person polling that has taken place shows Obama ahead by over 10%-- which they pinpoint to the fact that so many of the young people (that are overwhelmingly supporting Obama) don't have residence phones- and only have cell phones which the pollsters are denied access to the numbers of....
I know with my 4 kids (ages 21 to 29) that live on their own that is the case- and also with most of their friends...

Also- I don't think this widening spread is all because of Obamas trip- I think some of it is because of McCains desperation switch to Karl Rove Jr. as his campaign manager and switching to the Rove attack the messenger tactics-- rather than positively promoting whatever message he has....
