Tyson appointed to Board of Trustees

John Tyson, the chairman of the Tyson Foods, Inc. Board of Directors, was appointed to the UA Board of Trustees by Governor Mike Beebe on Wednesday.



Tyson, 53, served as committee chairman for the UA Campaign for the 21st Century. He is a graduate of Springdale High School. He attended the UA before obtaining his Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Tex, according to a press release.



"John Tyson is dedicated to the University of Arkansas as both a private and corporate citizen of our state," Beebe said in the release.



"He helped lead the U of A's highly successful capital campaign and will continue to be a strong voice in guiding the future of our state's largest institution of higher education," he said.



Tyson is a benefactor of the United Way and the Bridge School and is on the board of directors for the Walden Woods Project.



Tyson is the grandson of John W. Tyson, the founder of Tyson Foods, Inc.
