with the queen coming over here for a tour and to watch the Kentucky Derby, I have heard that they are giving classes on how to act near her.... many rules, like do not wear gloves, do not offer a handshake, and the big one.....do not act thrilled to meet her because she knows you are thrilled !! well, excuse me, did we not whip their asses in a war when they were thought of as unbeatable? are they not speaking German simply because WE defeated Hitler? if we went into England, I am guessing they would fold as fast as the Iraqi military did..... so why are we making such a big deal out of her visit??? hell we have men in Vegas who dress and look alot like her! stay in stuffy old England if she wants treated special....... she has zero power anyway.

Heard them talking the other day on a show about meeting her. They said you are not suppose to speak to her unless she speaks to your first. I guess You are just suppose to bow and nod or something. I would love to meet her, I would blab away and grab her hand and shake it til her false teeth fall out.

I'm just a colonist, in fact from one of the ORIGINAL 13--not some last minute thought of state in the dust bowl, and I'm with you Mrs. Greg.

I'd LOVE to meet the Queen and I'd follow the rules.

I'm kind of confused by the dislike of Britian that seems apparent here...the post about the British saliors, now this :? They are fighting BESIDE your men in Iraq...the Queens grandson is getting ready to deploy to Iraq,to fight with the Americans on the frontline and your rude and disrespectful...please explain this to me.

And yes Kola I'd be pleased to meet the Queen with you,her royal family has a very impressive military background, that aren't afraid to fight alongside the men of thier country.

no, I did not post this to piss you off. but it sure got your panties in a knot, didn't it! of course we did not single handedly beat Hitler....but the tide turned when we stepped in. My point in posting this was merely how the queen is supposed to be treated so gracefully and to be honored but yet our own President is berated by the press..... who gives a crap if the old bag is over here or not.... I agree with aplus. I too would start talking and shake her hand, offer her a little Levi Garrett, and tell her right to her face " you know, your Crown would be in Berlin right now if it were not for us!"

I, for one, have a lot of respect for the Brits. I lived in London for a while and came to appreciate the people - except for their tendency to walk on the wrong side of sidewalks!! We had an international office in Europe and had people from all over working with us. The Brits were especially smart, had less than pretty handwriting and often were the butt of jokes.

This was during the 1970s when malaise reigned in Britian. One particular Brit was especially patriotic. One the train ride home one evening, I remarked that if the British would do away with the monarchy, devalue the pound so that it would equal one dollar, we would admit them into the United States and give them one extra senator.

He was the only one that didn't think that was funny. He stayed aloof for quite some time.

And, we do appreciate the relationship we have had with Britian ever since about 1812.

Another story. We were building oil platforms for the Ninian Field in the North Sea and I was interviewing contractors to determine if they had adequate control on spending. This was a $5 billion project.

I don't remember the name of the company now, but their office was straight our of the 19th century. Manually operated elevators, bookeepers sitting on stools with a single incandescent light over their work area and not a sign of modern office equipment. The controller there was equally ancient. When asked if they had ever done any business with American firms he replied - "Certainly not since the revolution." They were still sore about that. We got to be good friends, though.

I know I was taught about all the different countries that participated in WWII and that we did not single handily defeat Hitler. But I was taught that the Financial support before we entered the war was what kept the European allies to be able to hang on. And then when we entered the war that was the turning point that turned the defeat of the Allies to Victory.

I do not think it would be a wrong statement to say that if the U.S. would have never entered into the War, England, France, Poland and many other European countries would be speaking German.

I would be interested in learning any other information that would show what I was taught in my History books as being wrong?

But the biggest factory I think that sparks comments like Jigs is that the U.S. has sacrificed money and Blood on many occasions in many lands for other countries to be free. But as soon as we do one for ourselves, as soon as we say enough is enough, and we go after the enemies of the U.S. Then we are crucified for it.

These very countries that are only free because Americans decided to help them in their fight turn on us because they do not approve of us going into Iraq. Well we fought their enemies with and for them in previous wars, why can we not fight a war with our own enemies with out the backlash we get.

Why must Americana's feel they need to wear Maple Leafs to travel to Lands that my Great Grandfather (WWI) and Grandfather (WWII) did not have to wear as they fought to free them? All because we decide to get rid of very bad ruler that everyone agrees should be removed. Forget WMD's he was our enemy and if we want to remove him it is our business. Why can we not get that respect when their very existence as they know it is because we came and fought for them?

Personally I do loose a lot of respect for some of these countries that march in the streets, burn American flags and chastise our citizens there on vacation because of Iraq.

Think about it in WWII we helped to remove a bad man Hitler, and it was fine with these Europeans since they were the major beneficiaries of it. But when we decide to remove another bad man Saddam because we feel it is in our best interest, then we are an arrogant, Power hungry, Murderous nation that has to wear maple leafs to come to their country.

The hypocrisy is easy to see, noone had a problem with us fighting Saddam to protect Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, but all heck breaks loose when we think it is in our best interest for our safety to finish the job. America is allowed to help protect everyone else, but our own safety is everyone else's business.

Would I show the Queen Respect? Yes the very same Respect I would show Texan, Jigs and even Kolan if I met them in real life. Would I hold her up as some sort of God? NO she is just a woman, no different than the lady bagging my groceries at the Store. Would I care to meet her, NO my time is valuable and anyone that has to be held in such high regards is not worth my time.

Jigs did she turn down your advances at one time in the past?....You sure do dislike her,you almost sound scorned...I do not think they have greeting rules that she decided upon, its just security, and who issued these rules? ...Same as the when the pope comes, hell he even got a bullet proof car...You must have better things to bi tc h about then this Queen visit and its rules...Sometimes jigs for as much as you a claim to be tough guy,you sure can whine, like a school girl sometimes.......

Yes I know memanpa, aplus.and the rest of the pack, your right jigs can be a good guy,so save your brown nosing for another thread...

NN,in all fairness Jigs has been nothing but decent to me on ranchers but its well known how I feel about the Americans saying they won WWII.I grew up in a household with a mother that lived through the war, before the Americans even entered my mother had lost nine uncles and BOTH my grampas were decorated, she watched numerous nieghbors recieve word thier boys, husbands ,daddys weren't coming home,so to say it was a futive effort on thier part badly ticks me off.My mother's school years were mared by bombing and raids,I cannot imagine hearing that as a young girl and having to hide under your desk not knowing if you would live through it....this is why I am passionate about this subject.

Aplus...the Americans have had to wear the Leaf for many years...I'm under the impression it is because of the US's late entry into WWII,nothing to do with Iraq, and as I've said Britian is fighting beside your American boys in Iraq so a little respect should be in order.

Jigs...I watched a clip of the Queen in Virginia this morn, apparently the thousands that turned out to see her don't hold your sentiments....also your handin out seed hats and I didn't get one :?

Mrs Greg, I see your point, and understand it quite well, however, the queen coming over here is, in my opinion, not worth the big hoopla they are making it out to be..... the way it was described on the radio, is they were teaching the stupid low class minimum wage bafoons how to act in the presence of "greatness" well, the queen can kiss my ass. those people earning minimum wage cleaning up after her do not need treated as second class citizens. the queen can get off her high horse and be treated just like any other person.

as for your hat. pm me your address and I will gladly hook you up. you have your choice, one of my ranch hats, a Kansas State Wildcats hat, a seed company, or the "KOLA" hat..... it is a silhouette of two people doing "it" and the caption is " Georgia Girls do it with a cousin "
