The Stanley Cup....

I imagine Burnt will support this......

Canada was stunned Monday when it was announced that The Stanley Cup will be awarded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, possibly as early as December 6th.
The cup will be stripped from from 2008 playoff champions the Detroit Red Wings and be awarded to the Leafs, who didn't even make the playoffs.
How is this possible, Canadians ask?
Well, the Leafs have formed a coalition with eastern conference semifinalists the Montreal Canadians, and conference quarter finalists the Ottawa Senators, now outnumbering the Red Wings.
According to current Leaf coach Ron Wilson "the Red Wings have lost the confidence of the league and should hand the cup over immediately to our coalition".
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is cutting short a European trip to try to resolve the unprecedented hockey crisis that could force a second playoff series, or see an opposing team coalition take the cup.

Well its about damn time!
I see absolutely no problem with this at all Mrs G.....in fact it should have happened every year since 1967   I will be copying it to send to everyone I know who has ever made fun of my Leafs

Well that's not the way I heard it! So 'nuf of yer nonsense, there Mrs. G!

The way I heard was this - the Detroit Redwings were celebrating their most recent capture of the cup passing it up and down the lineup with all the customary kissing the Cup, drinking champagne out of it, etc. Next day, one of the players got a little concerned about what one could "catch" by all that possible exposure to whatever germs someone else might have left on the Cup.

He went to his doctor and asked if he might have caught some virile infection from kissing the Cup, like listeria or Ecoli that was showing up in some meat products.

"Not a chance" said the doctor. "The Cup hasn't been near anything to do with a Maple Leaf for over 40 years . . . ."

(This had more punch when the listeria scare was on)

The year you were born? Wow, then they had better win it soon!
:lol2: Ooops, sorry.

Seriously though, I think they are a lot more fun to watch this year than for many years before. I kinda miss the big, strong Mats Sundin but what the heck, they got a few exciting young guys. All we need now to complete the entertainment is Sean Avery. Not!

But I'll bet he's available to whoever likes "sloppy seconds"!
