so we took advantage of such a cool day to move some cattle around to fresh pastures.

Late bloomer, this is July 17th, and a blooming soapweed now is very uncharacteristic

Thelesserhalfofourheifers.jpg

The lesser half of our yearling heifers. This bunch was wintered on ground hay and shelled corn, then partly summered on the same. We turned bulls out with them on May 15th, in the dry lots, and the whole bunch didn't see any green grass until July 3rd. It will be interesting to see which bunch of yearling heifers bred up the best, these or the ones that were on green grass from May 1st.

TheKidandtheCigarettecat.jpg

The Kid and the cat named Cigarette. I came up with the name for this cat, because everyone on the crew is always picking it up and petting it. More time is killed on this cat, than if these people were smoking cigarettes. :x :? :)

Your grass looks pretty good here were dry and its all burnt up.The cows seem fine as there is some green in the bottoms I had extra pasture so that has saved on my grass but those overgrazed pasture's I've seen here look real bad.Do you water your lawn or is it that green my lawn is on sandy ground and is brown other than some hardy weeds.

You sure have a pile of heifers are you selling some or calveing them all out?Things look good there.

We installed automatic lawn sprinklers a couple years ago. This keeps the lawn nice and green.

Quite a big percentage of our cow herd is getting up in years. We need to sell a lot of old cows this fall, and probably all of our red ones. More than likely we will calve out all of the yearling heifers that get bred, which hopefully is most of them.

I keep noticing the sorrell horse Brock rides...he always catches my eye.

Nice pictures, Soap. Nice kitty too. Petting cats is much better than smoking cigarettes...so quit complaining!!!

The pictures wouldn't look nearly so good if everyone had a cigarette dangling out of their mouth. You are so blessed...

(I know that you know that, just had to give you a little reminder.
You have probably taught most of us here how to better appreciate what we have.)
