The time has come---to sell my machinery & hand down my cattle
to slow down a bit----and live lifes battle
i'll grab a fish'n rod---and lay down the tools
to watch a crappie flop---with other wise ol' fools
as i'm sit'n on my boat---watch'n the sun come up
your cattle are look'n good---as i sip my coffee cup
the sound of a tractor---and the neighbors jack
the life of ranching---seems to come back
the pastures are green---and the water is blue
as my time in ranching---was a dream come true
as i retire my horse---and hang up his reins
i'll fish for a flathead---with lots of brains
as i cook him---over a midnite fire
with memories of ranching---i'm ready to retire
the hay is look'n good---your bulls look ready
while out on the lake---hold'n my rod steady
keep up the good work----keep the tradition alive
as i hang on to my rope---and saddles of five
just me and ol' blue---in an old fish'n boat
the time has come---to just stay a float
