It really bothers you that your chosen Cult was given the faith and hope of the American people-- and failed so badly-eh :???: ...Sadly it could take them years/generations for them to recover- and the people to again put their trust with them.....
First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
SMN Herf said:This debate sounds a little bit like what goes on in Washingotn on a daily basis. Repubs blame the Democrats and the Democrats blame the Republicans for all the problems. Bottom line is that there have been oportunities for both parties to address the issue of Fannie May and Freddie Mac and neither accomplished fixing the problem. The Democrats denied there was a problem and the Republicans who were smart enough to diagnose the problem early on didn't do enough to correct the problem.
The voters made the Republicans pay dearly for who they think are to blame for the current financial problems. But at the same time the Democrats who denied the problem are still in a positions of power. Plus they have a like minded person in the white house. I don't beleive the Democrats have the discipline to corect the problem. Instead of the fat cat Republicans being taken care of, the fat cat Democrats will have their run.
My question then is maybe it is time to get rid of govenrment sponsored enterprises all toghether. Fannie Mae was created as part of the New Deal of the 1930's in the wake of the Great Depression and Freddie Mac was created in 1970 to create competition for Fannie because of concerns of it holding a monopoly over the secondary mortgage market. According to my information, as of 2003, Fannie and Freddie held a virtual monopoly over the secondary mortgage market or about 90%. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are the only two Fortune 500 companies that are not required to inform the public about any financial difficulties they many be having.
So here we have two businesess acting as a government sponsored monopoly with no regulation and backed by the US taxpayer. No wonder we have problems. No matter what they did, failure for them wasn't a possibility. This goes against all the principles of capitalism. We certainly need change in Washington. Real change not just lip service. What will we get?
