Thet're Gone

Yearlings are in town for the sale tommorrow.

After a day of snow yesterday it was loon$h!+ city here last night. Backbladed the loading area off at dark but it wasn't frozen enough to unload the pairs we bought last Saturday so we unloaded then out the belly doors.
Got two trucks loaded this morning without trouble but had to pull the third one to and away from the chute. Followed the trucks to the highway to make sure there were no problems. 6 miles from home there was dust on the road. :x

No time to take photos today as it was a little busy. Will get some at the yards tommorrow.

Pulled a headfirst dead calf out of a cow after I straightened things out this afternoon. Luckily, they say no matter how hard you try, you can't kill them all. :?

Good luck plus good management plus hard work plus moisture = optimism and hopefully a good sale. Don't stay in the city too long or you might start to like it.

Good luck tomorrow gcreek. I hauled 4 great big ole cows that I couldn't stand to look at anymore (and that had lost their calves) to Dawson for sale tomorrow. I thought I'd try and see what it's like to sell cull cows when the market is up!

Thanks for the wishes of luck from both of us. :tiphat:

When I reread my post I realized how tired I am by my mis-spelling simple words.

We have 7 cows in the bunch that won't exactly be sale toppers Silver but anything over 25 cents is a bonus now. Sure makes a guy realize just how much the poor ol' packers and retailers have been gleaning from us while the major exodus has been happening.

Another bonus. I went through our new pairs tonight to check for any sick calves and there are 36 steers out of 56 calves. A nice end to a long day. :D

G'night all. Thanks again.

he must still be in town trying to spend his calf check. :?

Made it home at 3:00 AM this morning. Will post pics and tell a story or two when things get caught up today.
Topped the sale with both steers and heifers in a couple of weight ranges so I guess there are no complaints. The big bunch of steers went to an old couple who bought them last year, repeat buyers are good news. :D

Bought a green broke colt yesterday.

Gotta go haul a load of hay.

Congrats :D . Now that you've got some extra spending money, FH has some longhorns she'd like to sell you. I'm sure they'd flourish in your country.

Wouldn't they freeze to death in Gc's frigid temps. It sometimes sounds like he lives in the North Pole. :???: :p

gcreekrch. You stole my story about the loonsh**t but I'll forgive as you have waded through it too.

Congrats on the sales and it is very timely with my telling of a story about buying light yearling steers at Willians Lake from out in the Chillycotin. You may even know where they came from. This post is on the other board.
