Vancouver, British Columbia, Outlaws Rodeo
We're all guilty of thinking the animal-rights movement is so extreme in some of its views that it can't possibly be taken serious. But Vancouver, British Columbia, last week outlawed rodeos in an initiative backed extensively by the Vancouver Humane Society.

One could compare Vancouver to San Francisco, Berkley or Boulder, but it's impossible to ignore the financing and intense campaign that the animal rights community continues to wage, continuing to chip away until radical thought becomes mainstream.

It is tought when a state or area can be dominated by a specific area that doesn't share the same values as the majority of the Geography of the state. The chicago area, which can be fit in the Gallatin Valley for example, and it really doesn't matter what the rest of the state wants. Our gun control laws are dominated by Chicago (Where all guns are illegal and yet they still have the highest rate per capita of gun crimes in the state) . Drives me nuts. I know they were trying to ban one aspect of rodeo in the state a few years back... Don't think they succeded because the state Senate managed to block it or something, I can't remember... I am sure there are folks in Northern California who feel the same way about southern Cali.
