Looks like 2 suns setting... Not sure how it happened. Can't be double exposure in a digital.

Yes it happens when you point directly into the sun with digitals especially. It's a reflection on
one of the multiple lenses that are made in the camera. I've had it happen, thats why I wait till
after the sun sets more often than not, if I do take a sunset or sunrise I don't center the sun in the
middle. Photographer once told me, never center the subject of your picture in the cross hairs.
Lenses inside the camera aren't flat, they are domed so you get a
reflection somewhere else
on the same photo.

I would agree if I was using a point and shoot camera but this is a SLR so there is a mirror behind the one lense which reflects the image then goes through a prism to turn the picture right side up to view.

The rule of thirds is a good one to follow but I tend to break it more then keep it. I guess that is my signature and/or style of photography.

I have centered many sun sets/rises and this is the first time this has happened.

I have read several posts on websites that say double exposure is possible with even the SLR's if it's in "night mode" with and without a flash, due to the longer shutter speed. Also can be caused by movement.

Whatever the cause, it is a neat picture. The reason for somethings are not always easily explained.

Mirage, lol thats my guess! It is a neat picture. And Lilly, your digital info was interesting, ours isn't a very good one and I'm going to get a new one this weekend, our son wants wedding pictures taken by digital so I want to get a good one.Any of you guys with decent digitals have ideas on the best? I'd like one that takes black and white and sepia, as well as color.

Depends on how much you want to put into a camera. you can get the "old" Canon EOS 6.3MP Digital Rebel Camera with 18-55mm Lens for about $600. The Canon XT you can get the body only from Adorama.com for $650.
Any picture you take with a digital you can change into B & W or the sepia tones to it with the right program. The easiest one to learn is the Photoshop elements. That way if you want to move up to the full Photoshop you already have a good understanding of it.

If all you want is a point and shoot there are quite a few good camera out there ...try adorama.com or zipzoomfly.com they have some good deals and have a long standing reputation of standing behind thier products.
Good Luck and have fun .............you will be hooked before you know it. :D
