You all just make it look so effortless. I know it's not tho, lots of work involved in doing what ya'll do ever day. Maybe the reason it looks so effortless is because it's like watchin a silent movie........

When I look at your pictures soapweed, the first word that comes to mind is.....PEACEFUL.

Some glorious pictures there, Soapweed.

I thought Brock changed horses from the sorrell to the paint, but
on second look, I could see a spot of white right underneath the
blanket in the first picture.
And what was wrong that Brock had to trail that one pair home?

Actually what happened was that Brock started out riding the new four-year-old paint that I bought at Philip last fall. Devin was riding Goose, our old standby. After we rounded up the cattle, we sorted about sixty steer calves and their mothers off of of about 210 pairs. Brock traded horses with Devin so he could do a better job of helping me to sort out steer calves and their mothers. Devin and Saddletramp held the herd so they wouldn't get away. This was so we could put them in fresh pastures and not have to worry so much about water staying ahead of the whole big herd.

We only had to drive the 150 pairs about a mile after sorting, which was good because it was a warm day. There was one dink calf and a mother that doesn't give much milk. She is twelve years old, and I figured that the pair just as well go to a sale barn the next time I assemble a trailer load. The calf is four months old, but still would probably amount to something if someone bought it and put it on a nurse cow. That is the pair Brock is trailing home in the picture.
