This new summer calving sucks!

Normally I have plenty of cows that lose a calf so there is a place to put the twins that I get. Now I've got 3 twins in the barn that I'm bottle feeding and no cows to put them on, what a problem!! I'm sure that will change any day now.

Actually it's going really good. Just about half done. The rest of the heavies are going to pasture today to do their thing. I'm just embarrassed that I didn't think of this sooner.

Hooray! Now that's a nice problem to have :D ! I'm happy to hear you're enjoying your new management, and hope it keeps going well for you. Happy calving, and keep us updated :D .

Why aren't you just sorting momma and the twins off into a small pen to get mothered up and older and let the cow do her job. 5 of our cows raised twins last year that weighed right in with the bunch. Milk replacer is too expensive to make sense.

Or is it just that you have nothing else to do? :p  :D

I like that about our Galloways. They have twins about once in every ten thousand births, which is very convenient for a pasture calving scenario.
