NoNothing
I can not believe in the year 2007 there is not just one country wide age,of at least 18 years old. Some of these state ages do need to be changed.
CANADA'S LEGAL AGE OF CONSENT TO SEXUAL ACTIVITY
The Criminal Code does not now criminalize consensual sexual activity with or between persons 14 or over, unless it takes place in a relationship of trust or dependency, in which case sexual activity with persons over 14 but under 18 can constitute an offence, notwithstanding their consent. Even consensual activity with those under 14 but over 12 may not be an offence
Marriage in Canada,...
Under 16 years if pregnant or mother
Under 16 years with court decision
Under 16 years if the bride is pregnant
Under 15 years : If pregnant or with permission of the Minister

Like the US the law is mostly 18,..or over 16 with permission of the parents..BUT in most provinces, the exception for the bride, being pregnant.. and there is no minimum age, so I checked when it is a crime to get a child pregnant.. the answer 12...
So in effect,..a child can be as young as 12 in Canada and get married If she is pregnant...
Might want to address you own little problem first before attacking our laws based on a hoax..
Steve,I agree both Countries should look at changing things. I read an article which i saw on MSN main page,It happened to be written by a person from or working for Newsweek,Which I believe is part of MSN..I read said article not once thinking to myself "WOW I can get good ole USA on this one" ...Maybe I should of been more diligent in looking for an article that involved both Countries. For that I apologize to all those Americans who felt they were personally attacked by this Canadian over the minimum age of consent for marriage..
My intention was never To pit My country against yours....The hoax was the web site itself not the ages used in said article.....Also knowing it was a hoax,I was surprised by the number who used the site to both try to sell or purchase...I an surprised you never mention that, yet you accuse me of attacking your laws on a hoax...
YOUR RIGHT STEVE!!!!Canada does need to change its age,and the sooner the better. I think we too need a much older min age with it being the same from coast to coast....I am sadden that a country, mine included in the year 2007 still has such archaic laws..
I would Also sadly say if that article was written in Canada that I believe their would be buyers and sellers here to. That is the shame of both countries, and probably many more...
This was not an attack towards you Steve, just trying to clairify my postion that my intention was not to attack any one country. All I did was post an article, unfortunatly that article was written with only the USA ages as part of its content...
PS I would appreciate it if you, when quoting me,use my fully written quote..If you need to be specific with my quote, please use the bold feature as your way to point out the part you are attacking...I thank you in advance..
