Nice pictures. I usually ride and let my wife drive the pickup but I know that when crossing something like a bridge it helps to have the same person in the pickup that has been feeding them all winter because they seem to follow a little better. When Dad was still around and able to help he would drive the pickup he would speed up a little if they started to get in front of him so pretty quick we had 2 bunches, one following the pickup and another coming behind that didn't care about keeping up to the pickup. I needed a radio to tell him to slow down to the speed of the tailend bunch.

About you getting the pickup and the heater, the one in the pickup is the one that gets cussed at for going too fast/ too slow/ not leading the cows right etc. :-) :-) Besides it doesn't look that cold to me, if the sun is shinning and the wind isn't blowing it can be a very enjoyable ride for the ladies.

I live about a stones throw from Nebraska so I feel qualified to answer the wind question blkbuckaroo. Once in a great while the wind DOESN'T blow in this country, if you get my drift. Seems like the last few months we have had way more than our share.

Good pics soap, was looking at your wind break walls there, and wondering is it very windy in the summer in Nebraska?

Not to jump in here,,,but YES it's always windy in Nebraska!!!!!....upside it keeps our windmills pumping and plenty of water...

Great picture story! The cattle look good and so do the youngsters. If the wind always blows in Nebraska is that cause Kansas sucks? :D  Just joshing ya residents of Kansas! Thanks again for the camera tour!

It's windy almost all the time in Nebraska. :?

Except this last snow storm here anyway. Had the wind blown with the light powdery snow it would have been disasterous.

If your standing by a fence in Nebraska, and the wind is blowing at 50 miles an hour, what key does the fence play at? :???: :P

HOLD ON to the fence!!!!!

That's one thing I sure don't miss is that infernal wind...day in...day out....all day long...all nite long.

I can't take it......I'll admit it....

It just dries out your face and hands and neck and whatever is exposed and it will age you...and fast, men and women alike.

I heard this yesterday on the Montana Outdoorsman Radio show:

Livingston MT considers the wind to be blowing when the log chain on their windpole stands straight out--Big Timber figures the wind is blowing when the links start snapping off....

How else are you supposed to measure the wind? The chain links are only three lengths here this morning, so when it warms up a little more, I'm heading out to enjoy this break in the weather :D .

I got a call one AM at the ranch in ScottsBluff. Someone said, " Your water tank is rolling toward town ( Minatare), better go get it". I thought is was some sort of joke or prank.

Sure enough, the wind had gotten in and under one of those big old tanks for a windmill....and somehow, lo and behold it was rolling upright just as pretty as you please down the hill towards Minatare!!!

The wind was pushing it as good clip. The guys ran it down and got it back to the main office, but it took awhile .
