Weather boys say Glasgow tied a record set in 1919, 1936, & 1988 with a temp of 99 degrees today...My thermometer out here on the river bottom showed 104  104 with 20 mph winds feeling like they are coming right off Haymakers bar-b- que....Tomorrow is supposed to be the same...Won't take much of this to do in the grass and wheat fields...

Swathed until 11 and it was already showing 94- Hay was really getting dry and dusty so hit the air conditioner for the afternoon- will start in again at daylight....

i got to thinking after i posted that! See when i lived up north I used to be like that.....but now that i live down in Texas and see 3 weeks straight of 100+ degree temps I don't even think its worth mentioning.......

sorta like up north when it gets to 20 below for 3 weeks straight......

damn...life is crazy huh.....just depends on where it puts you on this planet!

wow...makes you think huh!

I always get nervous when 1936 records are broken. I lived through 1980 that was almost as bad.

Usually when it gets above 100, you don't have hard driving winds. OT is right about those winds robbing alot of good graze. I think 95 and humid and calm is hardest on cattle.

Tibbs- My sister lives down near Austin and is always telling me about the 90 and 100 degree heat there- How great she thinks it is after all the cold years she lived in Montana and Chicago...But I don't think I could handle it all the time....

Getting some of the same today... It was 85 on the pickup thermometer when I checked at 7AM-- was 91 at 10:30 when I shut down swathing...(I can always tell when it gets above 90 by the sound of the swather engine- its like me it doesn't like hot)...Temp is now 95- but today the wind is blowing 30 MPH and out of the NW....

Predicting a cold front to move in and the possibility of thunderstorms tonite....Might happen since now I have about 100 acres of hay down

Yea I think it is hotter today then yesterday. we were going to start cutting a few patches we thought we could salvage but decided to wait to see what these Thunder storms amount to. Have to move panels and water tanks in anticipation of moving cows and turning bulls out so no shortage of work.

97 was the high at the weather bureau today- hit a 100 at the home place...But they are predicting that a cold front will move thru tonite and produce a high of 80 for tomorrow :D - but then back in the 90's for the next 2 weeks :( ....

The good news BMR was I was talking to an old fellow from Lafleche area today that said he has never seen so much hay- old and new...Says from his place on over toward the Swift Current area has hay coming out their ears- says they haven't missed a rain-- so he thought it would be readily available cheap if a fellow was short....He comes down quite regular, so as he puts it, the Mrs. can play the poker machines and he can try to lose the ranch in the Thursday night poker game with the cattle buyers and big boys....Says you can't find affordable help anymore, so might as well invest it... Not a poker player myself, but from what I heard the old shark has invested it well in times past..

Big Muddy might be floating away...

Thunderstorms came thru during the night and still firing off little storms today...Pretty much missed me- got 10 drops on the river-- but the north place picked up almost 1/4 inch...But it sounds like some over by Plentysticks and just north of the border got over an inch...

Lot cooler today- the highest I saw was 84- just perfect...But supposed to shoot right back up in the 90's-100's...
