Help Support Ranchers.net:

Consumers will want source-verified product,in ever growing quanitys as by Luara's Lean Beef sales around the country. So in order to entice producers they have started this program.
Premium for Bulls
Laura's Lean Beef is constantly looking for exotic bulls (Limousin, Charolais, Simmental, Gelbvieh, etc.) to use in our ground products. We pay premiums for lean, heavy muscled cull bulls. We pay $100 per head premium above the slaughter bull market for bulls free of antibiotics and added growth hormones from birth until slaughter (cradle to grave). We pay $50 per head premium for bulls free of antibiotics and added growth hormones for 20 months prior to slaughter.
As for steers an example, assume a producer sold a steer with a yield grade of 1.4 (select) and had a 675 carcass weight. As a result, he would receive $0.15 x 675, or $101.25 bonus dollars.
All in the interest of recordkeeping , it pays

STAFF- Don't tell MRJ that because she claims NCBA says they can't test for steroids or antibiotics-- but they have been buying cattle with affidavits and traceable ID (hot iron brands) on them out of here for the last couple years- and if you get caught "fibbing" about it and they test with residue, the buyers pretty much blackball you for further premium purchases......

Jefferson City, MO Fri Jun 24,2005 MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News

Weekly Missouri Weighted Average Feeder Cattle Report (06/24/05)

Receipts: 32,956, week ago 27,211, year ago 28,433

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers mostly steady, with
many value-added, or cattle in thin flesh 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Demand
very good, supply heavy. The first of the summer value added, source
verified, wean-vac sales were held in Missouri this week with good producer
and buyer participation. Prices were notably higher for these cattle. Most
of these sales had extra buying power sitting in the seats, as buyers are
searching for high quality cattle of known genetics that have been through
a comprehensive health program, and that can be source verified with rfid tags.

BEEF and BeefStocker USA 2004 Survey of Beef Preconditioning Programs Link http://beefstockerusa.org/preconditioning/

This Lets You Look, at all of the surveyed value enhanced programs that are around and are worth more with RFID and a recordkeeping .

Pfizser drugs says Value enhanced cattle sales are in every region. Extensive analysis of the sales information from Superior Livestock video auctions throughout the United States during 2003-04 provided additional evidence that buyers will pay more for calves managed according to value-added health programs. Value added calves brought record premiums in 2003-04 with average premiums as high as $6.69 per hundredweight compared to non-vaccinated calves. In addition, the record premiums were seen in every region of the country. WeanVAC like calves from the South/Southeast sold for a premium of $7.88 per hundredweight or more.
In Mich. Wis. feeder calf sales the one thing is RFID button's and the origin source and birth dates and when these 3 things come together with value enhanced health programs, then the calf price skyrockets from what I have seen to $11-$14 dollars per hunderdwt. The feeders and finishers can pay this because they are being paid a preminm by companys like McDonalds,Ruby Tuesdays,Luara's lean Beef and Wolfesneck to name a few as their customer's are wiping their vendors shelf's clean even at higher shelf prices.I can see a shortage of RFID buttons y September.

Preminm's paid by companys like McDonalds,Ruby Tuesdays,Luara's lean Beef and Wolfesneck have the cow-calf salebarns getting setup to run RFID readers with computer' s all for source verification. The calf-to-carcass- to- retail allows cow-calf producers to study what happens to calves after they are weaned and delivered to the feedlots. Producers receive data on herd health, trucking fees, calf shrinkage, feedlot performance, marketing alternatives and carcass quality and even cutouts .The consumer has a advantage as the product has a history from Field to Fork and the retailer whether local, national,or international knows when he has corn fed beef or Angus on the shelf for sale. All with www.scoringag.com recordkeeping from point-to-point locations and husbandry records.
