Tom DeLay: McCain 'Hard to Swallow'

Monday, October 6, 2008 3:20 PM

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay believes that conservative Republicans will face a difficult challenge if John McCain is elected president.

"His stance on global warming, immigration, campaign finance, affirmative action — it's just a whole list of things that is not going to appeal to conservative Republicans,” the Texas Republican told PolitickerCA.com.

“I’ve known McCain for 23 years, and McCain’s hard to swallow.

“And if he becomes president, teaming up with the Democrats, we're going to have a lot of work to do to stop them."
------------------------------------------------

"He's as far left as anyone who's ever run for president in this country,” DeLay said.

McCain is farther to the left than Obama? Puhleeeeze. That statement shows how much credibility to give to Delay's opinion.

The last quote from the article that Oldtimer posted didn't really sound like Delay talking about McCain, so I wanted to see it for myself. And since he didn't provide a link (I wonder why?), I googled it.

Here's the article in it's entirety. I highlighted the part that was cut out and replaced with the line of --------'s.

That part that was deleted makes all the difference in knowing who Delay was referring to.

“I’ve known McCain for 23 years, and McCain’s hard to swallow.

“And if he becomes president, teaming up with the Democrats, we're going to have a lot of work to do to stop them."

DeLay, who supported Mike Huckabee in the GOP primaries, said that despite his differences with McCain he still plans to vote for him because Democrat Barack Obama would be far worse.

"He's as far left as anyone who's ever run for president in this country,” DeLay said.

DeLay also said the choice of Sarah Palin as McCain’s running mate was an “absolutely brilliant move” and urged the McCain campaign to “turn Palin loose … Quit handling her. Let her be Palin.”

DeLay represented a Texas district for more than 20 years before resigning from Congress in June 2006.

Now scroll back up and see the part that Oldtimer left out. It's quite clear that Delay was talking about Obama being "as far left as anyone who's ever run for president in this country."

Here's the link to the Newsmax article so that everybody who is interested in the truth can see for themselves:

What Texan is getting at is that OT only posted part of the article and provided no link to it. The part that was posted and the entire article tell two completely different stories, which leads me to believe that OT was trying to mislead us. I'm disappointed.

It's gonna be interestin and downright fun to watch some of ya'll defend Mr. Obama as he destroys America. If he gets to be President. He'll have a lot of us out of buisness and tax the heck out of those who can stay. Wonder how change will taste then?

While McCain is not a conservative ideologue by any means. I hope and pray that he is dead serious about this whole maverick thing. I know Sarah Palin is.

Palin brought down a billion dollar corruption ring in her own party. The only reason that she got things done is because of her 80% approval rating. The truth is that both the Republican and Democratic machines in Alaska hate her. She took away their funny money and passed a whole new tax system and ethics system.

Palin destroyed the career of several Republicans in the Alaska Senate, the Republican Party Chairman, the former Republican Governor, the Republican Attorney General and more. Now dont get me wrong, they were crooks and deserved to go.

Palin is so hated by the old republican machine, they tried to change the time of the State of the State addres so she could not attend her sons high school graduation. That is the level of bitterness that they have.

If McCain/Palin get elected and if they are serious about this whole Maverick thing, expect people in both parties and the media to wage all out war upon them. It will be ugly, federal employees will get fired, members of Congress will get accused of corruption.

It needs to happen though because Congress, as an institution, is a self first, country last, disaster. Congress needs a fundemental ethics and procedural overhaul. It is THE domestic problem of our time.

You think McCain is a corrupt crook with nothing to support it yet you think nothing of Raines, Johnson, Sen. Barney Fife the gay blade and Sen. Dodd stealing and supporting thieves??? What hypocracy.

fff....the big goof by OT was deleting the parts of the article that were just as important as what he did post. In other words he posted a "half truth". What Delay said was basically the same thing Biden said about Obama during and then after the primary.. "He's not qualified to be Pres."...Now he's running with him and agrees with him 100% on everything.
