Too High A Price To Pay?

Sam has found a transmission for our pickup (hopefully, this one will be the right one  unlike the last 2 have been  ). The only drawback is that it's going to cost us $1650, and then they start adding to it........labor, freight, etc.

Our pickup is a 95 Chevy 1500 4WD 5 speed with a 4.7 ltr engine (I think........... :???: not real sure about the engine size).

Is $1650 a good price for a tranny for this model pickup? I have no idea if it's used, rebuilt or new. Sam didn't say, and I could hardly hear him anyway, he was breaking up so bad.

Thanks for your help on this! :D

I would go price a similar pickup of the same yaer and condition lots of those trucks can be bought here for less than repairs.

the price sounds pretty reasonable considering my oldest paid about the same for a new tranny in his truck! however, I agree with Denny....check around a few other places first and then decide!!! Good luck to ya and keep us posted!!

Couple years ago we put one in a 97 Chev 4 wheel drive pickup and total cost installed came to around $2200-2300...This was a new factory auto tranny and came with a 2 or 3 year warranty.....
