Our annual Cattlemen's Association Banquet is tomorrow night. Thought I'd run some of the info I have put together by ya'll and I welcome your feedback.
We have ordered 240 meals from our caterer. We had 223 commitments and wanted to little to spare. It is impossible to get folks to pre-buy their tickets. Hard headed dang ranchers! Supper will be Roast BEEF with a baked potato, veggies, salad, roll and eclairs and ice cream for desert. Our 3 county high school FFA chapters are sending kids to serve.
We start with the pledge and a prayer. We have scheduled official business to elect more board members. We will meet as a board prior and elect a new president to replace me. (THANKFULLY) 2 years was plenty. We will have both presidents of the Utah Cattlemen's and Cattlewomen's associations speak for a few minutes. Then have a few songs by a local musician while the FFA brings us supper. When we all get served and start eating, we have a Vet from Utah State University coming as our keynote speaker. He will discuss "Does vaccinating pay?". He is scheduled for a 20 minute presentation. Then our entertainer will wrap up with 3 songs. After we are done eating and the plates packed off, we will recognize 3 ranchers as Cattlemen of the year with custom jackets. Hand out a couple plaques of thanks for folks who help a lot. Draw for door prizes. And auction off some salt and a few other items to refill the old checking account. Then our president elect will take the reins and say a couple words. Then we turn everyone loose for home and get to take down everything and put it all away. Should be home by 2 am. Sleep is over rated.
I will attempt to remember to pack my camera and share some action shots of the festivities! I will be one happy rascal when tomorrow night is behind me. I have been busting my tailfeathers getting things squared away. Thankfully, our board has some good guys (myself excluded) who are fun to work with and a great help.
