As wind had been a scarce commodity for a couple days, I needed to check windmills. It was a beautiful day,
so my 86-year-old dad decided to ride along. We had a very enjoyable afternoon.

He enjoyed the afternoon, thinking the Polaris Ranger was smoother riding than either a saddle horse or a pickup.
I filled it with gas before we left, and punched the trip button on the speedometer. We covered right at 30 miles
before we returned home. Dad thought our old South Dakota hills looked pretty good. I did remind him
that we've received quite a bit more rain this summer than is normal.

Did a little traveling with my Dad today as well. He thinks the hills look pretty good as well. This last couple weeks of rain really turned things around.

Looks like you had a great day. Being able to take your Dad along on a outing like that is truly a blessing from The Lord. Not only from honoring parents but also from the bits of generation wisdom that comes from it.

Took my dad to the ranch as well yesterday. He and my boy checked the fence for the move. I sprayed Toadflax. Opened the gates for the move, called, went home. We will go shut the gates today. I love trained cows that like to move often.

Good shots, again. I envy you be able to ride with your dad and just talk about things for an hour or two . . . .

looks like a great way to spend the day! if that sunflower would have been in this country, it would have been completely covered with grasshoppers. thanks for the tour. :D

per-we move alot of cows around in the summer the way you did. i have an older longhorn cow, that has moved hundreds and hundreds of pairs over the years all by her self. i open the gate, and if she can hear me, she brings everyone with her. if shes a ways off, i'll go find her so i know she hears me, head for the gate, come back later and everyone is moved. the cows move at their own pace, no one gets excited....good way to get it done

Thanks for the pics, Soap! I'm glad you both got to spend quality time together on a nice day checking over the fruits of your labor. Good cattle, good hay crop, and good pasture are blessings to be thankful for.

Ahem.....so, who opened the gates? :p

All looks real good!
That is the cool thing of a Ranger. The driver can open and close the gates while the passenger only needs to use his left foot to get through the gate. My dad will slide right over and enjoy the rest of the tour from the drivers seat. :?
