Traveling Vietnam Memorial

We were very fortunate to see the traveling memorial this past weekend. It is an 80% replica of the one in Washington D.C. It is also a memorial to those lost in the two world wars and Korea. Talk about humbling. I've never been to D.C. to see the wall, but after seeing the traveling Wall I plan to. Look it up and see when its going to be in your area. Take the family and explain to them the sacrifices these people made for them.

It was down here a few years ago. It's something everyone needs to see to understand what war is all about. I have a couple of family member on there.

Replica of Washington's Vietnam Wall rising in Wildwood

WILDWOOD — What began as a $20 beef and beer one cold February day turned into a successful fundraising campaign that will come to fruition on Memorial Day weekend as a permanent replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is unveiled.

The replica, under construction at Fox Park in Wildwood, will be about half the size and a slightly different shape than the original monument in Washington, D.C., but the emotions it is likely to stir will be the same.

A half-scale, black-granite replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will be unveiled at noon Saturday at Fox Park in Wildwood.

The 250-foot wall was the product of a two-year local effort and fundraising campaign to bring to Wildwood a permanent memorial to the more than 58,000 men and women killed during the Vietnam War.

The Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Wall, a half-sized replica of the National Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC, was unveiled before a massive crowd of spectators yesterday at Fox Park.
