Got an old cow that went down on me yesterday, probably Hypomagnesemia. I put 500 mls of calcium, magnesium and dextrose solution into the jugular, then another 500 mls under the skin. After the first 500, she started showing some signs of recovery (holding her head up, moving her legs a bit), but then she slid back after a 1/2 hour. Can't put anymore magnesium into her for fear of stopping her heart, so I've been tubing electrolytes, water, sugar and molasses into her which is all my vet has ever told me to do.

Anyone ever treated this before? Anything that I'm missing? Alternative treatments?
