My son and some other 16 & 17 year old kids from the Sandhills & the Panhandle just returned from a trip to DC.

Many of the guys bought trump shirts, and were surprised how the previously inhospitable natives turned down right hostile at the sight of trump campaign shirts. Sighs and sneers were too common to be noteworthy as were poorly thought insults. You know how when you are tagging a baby calf and the old momma is all snorty - it's tempting to swat her head away, but you resist because once contact is initiated, she might take to wollering you all over the calving pasture? As long as the DC natives were merely big city rude, the kids were faithful to their country upbringing, but cultural and racial insults from the natives might have worked to cut the country kids loose with brick bats of their own.

They had a good time, but they all commented about waiting for everything. Also remarked that the tour disproportionately emphasized some politically popular (read MLK) subjects. My son increased his understanding about how truly amazing the founders were.
