A statement in todays Billings Gazette caught my eye and kind of summed up the Montanta Politics-- a true purple state with much variety in peoples and beliefs--often descried as more Libertarian than really any Party..... The article explains that the Montana Democratic Party chose rancher Dennis McDonald, Melville Chairman- and Margaret Campbell of Poplar Vice Chairman... During the backslapping I thought the following comment laid out the direction of Montanas politics, since the Montana Republican party has all but had the grave shoveled in on themselves...

However, it was Campbell, an American Indian, tribal college administrator and two-term legislator, who stole the show with her comment after her victory.
"Only the Democratic Party would elect cowboys and Indians for leaders," Campbell said to loud laughter.
