Report: US government in GM industry's pocket~

US diplomats lobbied aggressively to support its genetically-modified food industries, a campaign group has revealed in a new report. The US even pushed EU countries to change laws to allow GM crops in.

the US government should peel back it's involvement in trade agreements and let companies have a little more say than just the one with the most money. for some reason the government HATES small producers.

at some point, we will reach a tipping point. at that point, government employees mouth's will drop as the populace responds. i can't really figure out when the government no longer feared the voters and basically acts with impunity.

Capitalism is evil...

Is capitalism when companies/corporations fend for themselves? I forget.

And if I also remember correctly, it was the Tea Party movement that opposed big business bailouts and the obama administration and the Dems. that signed the stimulus law, which bailed out these large corporations....

That wouldn't be Corporatism, would it...

Its racist to expect people to fend for themselves.

Funny story:

Had a "kid" working for me, the past couple of months. 2 weeks ago he comes to me and says he is quitting...

"why, you are doing great at the job and you are making good money, aren't you"

"ya, the money is good, but my heart's not in it"

"So what do you want to do?"

"I want to go to school, and learn how to run a music studio"

"great, so is there any chance that you can do that and continue to work here?"

"ya, but I would have to drop down to part-time"

"that's okay, do you need the mornings, or afternoons off?"

"afternoons, if I get registered for the program"

"well, take the day off and get registered"

"thanks, I'll be here tomorrow"

shows up the next day...

"I got registered, so can I only work until noon?"

"sure, just keep up the pace, and I will make other arrangements for the other 4 hours"

and then production drops off, and off.

I hinted that he needed to speed up a bit, get back to his normal pace, 3 times. Tues, Weds and Fri.

Friday morning, I told him I needed 30 units built by noon.

He comes into the office at 10am and asks if "payday" was today or Monday. I explained that if payday (15th and 30th) falls on a weekend, I will pay on the Friday. So he says: "then I quit"

"why"

"I feel I have been getting enough done around here and then you come to me this morning and tell me to get more done"

"well, how many units did you get built in 4 hours, on both Tues and Weds?"

"4 to 5 per hour"

"how many did you get done this morning, in 1.5 hours?"

"12"

"so you built 8 per hour this morning and 4 per hour on Tues and Weds, but you are telling me that you feel you are getting enough done?

"well ya, if you average it out."

"great, here's your cheque"

Just more supporting evidence for pay on production.

I was thinking a min. wage might be a pretty good idea.

Yep, those that bust their butt aren't discouraged by watching those that don't. I'm a fan of it and amazing how it can be implemented in so many different occupations.

But unless your talking building units of fence or something related to ranching, you shouldn't be posting in this forum. Look at the name, "Political Bull", how do you not get that? Gosh!

I should add....

This kid was making $13 per hour and was in a position to work his way up...

anyway, the last guy doing his job, was building 12 per hour, making $18 per hour. He too started at $13 per hour and within 5 months was at $18.

pencil it out, but I can pay someone more, and make more myself, if they are at least willing to do the work, at a reasonable pace.

Anyway, I will show them a few times and if they cannot do it, then I will do it myself...I cannot afford to have people sitting around that cannot think for themselves. Babysitting costs too much.
